won't sleep and blowing raspberries!!

i have a 4 month baby and he's very cute...

however, the last week has been very frustrating for me...I don't know what else I can do.

He now refuses to be wrapped but won't sleep either if I dont wrap him. It now takes me at least an hour each time just to settle him...and when he finally settles - he only sleeps one cycle (40 minutes)....

He refuses to sleep unless i hold and pat him to sleep. that's the only way i can get rest myself ...i tried leaving him in the cot to selfsettle but he just screams and whimpers but never sleeps. my arms are getting very very tired and he's given me so many hickies from sucking my neck.

The last few days..he has started blow raspberries when i'm patting him to sleep. He's totally awake!! it's like he's mocking my efforst to put him to sleep!!

i wondered whether it was the new weather?? or the fact he got vaccinated last week? or just htat he's getting older?? or are boys just harder to settle?? (i noticed all the girls in my mother group are so much better...)

sigh...am very tired and dont know what to do. I know all babies are different...i just need to vent

Hi happy child!

I know with my DS, about 4 months was when he started to be awake for longer stretches during the day. It might not be the same for yours, but are you checking for tired signs before you try to put him down?

About that age I also had HUGE dramas getting him to self settle during the day (but not at night - what's with that :confused:??!!). I started up a daytime nap routine of music, sleeping bag and closing the blinds. It did take a month or so of hard slog, but now he self settles with no worries.

Good luck! Maybe some of the other lovely ladies in here can give you some other advice as well.
