We have decided we would like a 3rd child and i'm just trying to work out what age gap i'd like to 'try' for. There is 22 months between 1 and 2 and i think i'd like around 18months bw 2 and 3 but not sure how hard it would be - i know i'd cope, you have no choice but to do what needs to be done LOL but is it a little easier because 1 and 2 can kind of entertain each other a bit during feeding etc?

i'd like to know this as well! i have an 18 month gap between 1 and 2, and i found the pregnancy and first few weeks after giving birth extremely difficult, but i really want a close age gap again...!

Hi,
I have a 28 month gap between 1 and 2, and 18 months between 2 and 3 and 22 months between 3 and 4. All were hard at the start, it always is when you are adjusting to life with a newborn and an extra member of your family. But I found having them close is great! I do have to say at the moment that my middle 2 (the 18 month gap) have been at each others throats lately! I think it might just be that #3 is at the terrible twos stage (hoping)
Do what you feel is right. Like you said you will handle it cause you have to! I know the first 3 months was hardest, then it gets a bit easier every day
Good luc TTC!
xx Nic

I have 3 years and 4 months between 1 and 2 and there will be 3 years and 2 months between 2 and 3. The age gap worked great the first time so im hopeing it repeats itself again. In saying that i thing no matter what the age gap it will be hard for the first few months. I personally dont think i could of coped with a closer age gap.:o

19 months between 1 and 2, and 18 months between 2 and 3.

In all honesty I found 3 far easier to adjusting to 2, and now she is 13 months it is wonderful! They all play together and the bigger kids entertain her endlessly! :yelclap:

Mummaslove, did you find that 1 and 2 entertained each other a lot while you looked after #3?

Honestly you know what you can handle everyone is different listen to your motherly instinct. I have 15mths between 2 and 3 and 16mths between 3 and 4. All my 4 are close together it's hectic but lovely at the same time. Ds3 is nearly 2 and getting easier each day so it does get easier as they grow but I don't need to tell you that.

we had 19 months between 2 and 3. 22 months between 1 and 2. And there will be 23 months between 3 and 4.

Honestly I think it all depends on the child. I found my first 2 pretty easy and DS1 was very independant but became a bit of a monster when he turned 2. So i thought if the gap was smaller it would be easier. But my second child was a late developer and only walked at 18 months, a week before DS3 was born. Also DS2 was very very clingy which made it hard too. So I guess you can never tell how it will work out, but it all does in the end... you just hope that you have more good days than bad

Wow this post is old lol.

I have a 1 minute age gap between number 2 & number 3 (being twins and all :p). But between the twins and number 4, there are 11 months and my gosh it was the hardest thing I have had to deal with in my life. Would not recommend it. IMO I believe that a 3 to 4 year age gap would be ideal though.
