Today I had a bad headache and saw spots/had some weird vision and I read somewhere that if this ever happens to mention it to your OB. So, because I'm away from home (and OB) at the moment and because over the past two to three weeks I've gained almost 6kgs I decided to go to a walk in clinic and ask to have my BP checked. I thought the doc would check me, say it's 100/60 (what it always is:)) and send me away feeling confident that I don't need to go home early to see my OB.

Well, when I got in to see the doc she said I had a migraine but would still check my BP. First reading was 135/75:eek: 'that's a touch high, just relax and we'll take it again' she said. So we did, it was 140/80.:eek: So we tried again, third time it was 120/70. She sent me away saying I have a migraine and should have a lie down.

What do you think? Should I go home to see my OB? I don't want to panic over nothing, and as far as I know I have none of the risk factors for PE. But aren't those numbers high?

I'd definitely get in touch with your OB, or another doctor.

The spots in your vision are a classic p/e sign - I had that exact symptom the first day I was admitted to hospital and put on medication for p/e.

Its always best to be safer than sorry - if only to put your mind at rest. :hugs:

A headache that doesn't go aaway with panadol is also a symptom of pe. If it were me, I'd be going to a local hospy to be checked out. Just to be safe. Did the gp check your urine?

Well, tbh, the headache has gone away now.:)

No, the GP didn't check my urine.

I would at least call your OB and explain it all, or otherwise go to a local hospital if you can just to get checked

I'm 26 weeks along. :)

I just called a 24 hour nurse and he told me to go get checked tonight, so I'm off to the hospy now. Thank you for your advice! I'd rather be wrong for going to get it checked than wrong for not going to get it checked.

I'd rather be wrong for going to get it checked than wrong for not going to get it checked.

Exactly! Hope all is well and that you just need a good rest:)

Thanks everyone. No protein in my urine, so I am very happy.:)

Hi, my gf used to get the same thing with her migraines. she would go completely blind and couldn’t talk as her speech was affected also. She would need to call her partner or a friend each time this happen as she couldn’t drive or get around the house. Since the birth of her child she has not had any but has a plan A B C encase it should go blind from it and can’t look after her baby. She is a very healthy young person it’s just that migraines do that to her which she fully recovers after they have gone.
