Or hate it for that matter...
I need a baby carrier. I dont want to but something and then end up getting the ERGO after all.
People keep saying its the best one for a bad back.
So do tell, is it really worth the money?
How hard is it to put on?
Tell me why you love it. I need to be convinced....;)

Sorry, saw this before but have only just had time to reply....
Um, I hated the ergo. I bought one second hand after my bubs was getting too big for the baby bjorn which I LOVED. We went away for a couple of days and the pram wouldn't fit but I thought oh well I've got the ergo I'll just use that (hadn't used it yet).... I put him in there and I HATED it, and he screamed. I tried it again and again for 2 days, even went into a shop to make sure I was doing it right but nope, we both really disliked it.
I ended up buying a quicksmart pram to use lol.
Still haven't found another carrier, though will be trying a mei tei or hugabub when the money allows it, I often used fleecy blankets at home and tuck them under my arms and he loves that and so do I :)
I really hope it works for you.

I loved my Ergo when DS was really small (with the infant insert), but he grew really heavy really quickly (he was 8.5kg at 4 months), so felt really heavy in it when using the infant insert. I couldn't really use it from when he was about 2 months to 4 months. I have just recently been able to start using it again now in the front carry position, but haven't used it much lately.
My DS does love being in it, and it is my last resort when he is really unsettled, but I find it easier to put him in the pram when we go out, coz he loves going in the pram too. Good to have as another option though.:)
I found it really easy to put on, easier than it looks!

I love it.
I loooove my Ergo!!
Brayden (4 next month) looooves being in it, and its comfortable, cant even feel his weight.
Harlan (16 months) doesnt like being on the back, but loooves the front, hes getting too tall for it on the front though, so i dont use it so much now. but hes 16kg and its still comfy.
I cant wait to use it again! :D

I am an ergo lover here! My DD goes to sleep as soon as she goes in it. She is the youngest of 5 kids and gets carted everywhere and so does the ergo.

Surely I can't be the only person who hated using it? Anyone maybe even dislike it a little?

I love my Ergo too - infact I hardly ever use the pram now. My 6m old loves being in it and I find it easy to take with me when going out.
I have the regular Ergo and it does get hot for me and bub so the Ergo sport is probably a good decision.
As for comfort - I have carried my 6mo in it for up to 4-5 hours with no back pain/ache at all.

Not to be rude...but do you have a smaller frame (ie are you skinny)?
They don't really suit skinny people :) A mei tei would be better for somebody with a smaller frame.
They suit people with a bit of padding. Luckily enough for me, that's me to a 't' :p
oooh, was just about to start an ergo thread but I might ask here if it's ok?
any thoughts on how much to sell a good condition ergo for second hand? I have been asked if I will sell mine.. I don't use it anymore. It the black one with the green retro lining. I have no idea what price second hand ones go for.. ebay wasn't a lot of help. I was a little attached to it because I loved it so much.. but I think it's time to go to a new home! :)

I've got an ergo and don't really like it. The reason being is I'm quite short and when I have DD in the front I can't see, she blocks my view.
Am I the only one with this problem?
I LOVE my ergo... but I HATE the infant insert!
My DS2 is just three months, but I have started carrying him in the front position with his legs "frogged" underneath him, as the infant insert squishes him and he hates it.
That said, as a very newborn he loved it, but quickly got over being so squooshed up.
But as far as the front carry, side carry and back carry for older babies, it's fantastic, particularly the hip carry and I find the weight distribution fantastic, not at all tiring for me to carry, although I will add that I have pretty skinny bubs!

Tam - I assure you that I am a full complete package of extra padding  My son thinks my stomach makes a great trampoline there's that much bounce in it.
(but how lovely to be thought of as skinny for the first time in my life :D)

I love our ergo! and intend on using it with our next one too. We dont have the infant insert so as soon as the little one can hold their head up steadily and is big enough I will give it a go.
As I had a hatchback and found it a struggle putting a pram in and out of my boot, I found the ergo a godsend:flowerz:. Im just annoyed that I bought one for my sister too but she was just never a baby carrier type of person...just refused to use it.
I actually felt like I lost a lot of weight having a baby on me...almost like carrying leg weights on me except up above . I used this to my advantage as I liked staying fit.
I always kept our ergo in the bottom basket of my pram so if my girl hated the pram (teething etc) Id put her in the ergo and she would completely calm down.
DH loves the ergo. I loved it when my girl was in the back position as I could have hold heaps more stuff in my shopping basket. Next time plan on using a granny trolley as well

Really..i am a pretty small person and skinny and looking at the ergo as a possible option for my next baby. I tried the baby bjorn with DD1 and it was awful - DH and i and DD all hated it :(
Is the ergo similar in feel to the baby bjorn?
Why is a mei tei better for small people? off to check it out now

The Ergo is NOTHING like a bjorn (nor is a mei tei). The Ergo just seems uncomfortable for smaller framed people, you can't make it small enough across the back, and it's too long in the body to work.
A mei tei ties on, so it's has some inherent (?sp) differences, in that it's immediately customisable to any given frame. They're similar in the way they completely support the baby's body against your own, and are ergonomic for the sling wearer (the baby's weight is evenly distributed across your hips and back, rather than carrying the weight through your shoulders and upper back a la the bjorn).
If you can, try an ergo before you buy. If it doesn't work then you haven't wasted your money!
