I recently saw a story on ACA which talked about these. Just wondering if anyone has bought them and if they feel they are worth the money?
Hi,
I haven't bought these dvd's but they did have a display at the Brisbane Babies & Children's Expo.
I listened to the presentation and watched a bit of the dvd on the television provided.
I asked what accent the presenter had and they are American. Some of the words are pronounced the American way and spelt American language ie. color and zzebra.
The response from the person was so what if the dvd's are American presented since children are so exposed to American accents on tv now and besides her child didn't have a problem with identifying the difference.
This is the primary reason that turned me off buying the dvd's I want my child to hear Australian accents and learn the Australian language, not American.
I don't really think this concept is any different than if you teach your child baby sign language. The baby sign language comes with a dvd, flash cards and quick reference chart for about $50 and the baby would also benefit in being able to communicate with other death people.
The baby can read dvd's are about $140 and that is only the dvd's, the flash cards cost extra.
Anyway make up your own mind.
