What's your AF like?

Hi Ladies,

Well I have been 5 months off the pill, and still TTC #1 :mad: . I have a question. My AF seems shorter than what I remember from before I went on the pill, but that was so long ago, I can't really remember what it was like.

I have two days which are heavy/reasonably heavy, then it gets really light. Right now I am on day four, and I only have a bit of brown spotting (sorry for the details :eek: ) I have fairly regular cycles of about 33 days.

I am worried that if my AF is too small that that signifies a womb lining that is too little to support a bub.

What do you think? What's everybody else's AF like? Is there anyone who had light AF and ended up falling pg ok?

Well not much help on what it should be like, but as to the thickness; mine was paper thin after years of contraception, but at the ultrasound the other day he said it was beautifully thick. I asked and he said the body knows how much to store and how thick to make it. :fingerscrossed: for you this month

Sweatpea - same thing here, although I started taking the pill at 17, so I can't really remember what my pre-pill AF was really like. But when I was on the pill (for 15 years!), my AF was reeeeeeeeeeeeally long (about 7 days), then when I came off I was somewhat relieved to see it was only about 4 days (like you, 2 days of medium, then 2 days of spotting). But I don't think that's short at all. I know lots of people (my mum included) that only had AF for 1 day!!! And they managed to fall PG OK. I don't think it means anything. I think you're pretty average.

Hi littlefish, Unfortunately, like everything else Af is different for everyone. Mine go for five days, well sort of :confused: 2days medium 1 day light 1day nothing at all and then one day light to spotting. I think your body just knows what is needed. oh btw I have been off the pill for 10 years and from what I can remember my af has always been the same.

I have been worrying about the same thing as my AF is 2 days light/medium/ and 2 or 3 days spotting. I went to the GP last week and he said that was fine and normal so I guess he knows what he's talking about.

Wow Thanks for all your responses! That's a weight off my mind.

It's so hard to remember what life was like before the pill especially since I wasn't taking a great deal of notice then of my cycle. I didn't even keep track of how often AF came... (guess I should have taken my mothers advice and documented things on my cycle after all - damn teenage stubborness!!!)

Chicken. I am also very interested to hear that you had a 7 day AF when you were on the pill. Me too! I thought that was weird, I talked to one of my friends and she said hers has almost stopped since going on the pill. I guess anything seems like a short AF after a 7 days one. :rolleyes:
