hey there,
just wondering if there's anyone who has had an elective c/s (not for medical reasons) at nambour hospital, or know of anyone that has?
i have my appointment on thursday with the dr, but have no idea of how to approach the subject as i have been getting frowned upon by everyone for what i want, so have become rather shy in discussing the subject.
any help would be great, thanks
hiya candy pants. i saw your query in the other section but not having had a c/s didn't think i could reply.
i have had 3 births at nambour though, if you have concerns about birthing definately talk to the midwives there or your ob/gyn.
i guess that many people support the idea of a natural labour because a c/s is a pretty major op to have. i'm sure you probably have your reasons for wanting it, but you may also like to keep an open mind as labouring & vaginal birth can be a positive and empowering journey.
you may find that during your pregnancy your feelings on the subject may change.
it is your birth so don't be afraid to speak up and get the support you need for your choices.
(you don't look like the shy type:p )

Hi candypants.
I had an elective c/s at Nambour General, but it was for medical reasons.
I know the staff there are very pro-vaginal delivery, so you may face a bit of a battle, but you should still be able to have your choice of delivery. I was under Dr Gregora (who I believe is the head OB) and he is quite conservative apparently.
There was a young girl in our antenatal group who also wanted to opt for a c/s and the midwife told her that it was her choice, but that she may have a difficult time convincing the Drs. She said the best thing you can do is to really do your research & present them with it, so that they know you know what you're talking about & that you're not just doing it out of fear.
All the Best!

thanks ladies
Hey goodluck for your birth at Nambour hospital. I had DS there and i was screaming for a c/s after 27hrs of labour, ended up with a ventouse delivery and was very exhausted. I hated my birthing experience there. I hope you have a better time and get the birth you want.
