Hills or Westmead Priv - Sydney

Hi,

I am undecided between Hills Private and Westmead Private in Sydney. I have seen good and bad in both as a doula and they both have their advantages and disadvantages as I see it so I would love to hear from anyone who has had experiences with either to let me know what you did or didn't like about their experience.

I had been both the hills and westmead private. I found that the interior and the facilities in the hills is not as new as westmead private. But in term of services, i like the hills better. Midwives in the hills are great. Very friendly and supportive. I think i will go back to the hills next time.

I am due to hve my bub in the next few weeks and have booked into Westmead Private. Thought I would post as I have had to now go into hospital twice under observation at Westmead Private with my pregnancy. On both occassions I have found the midwives fantastic. I am a first time Mum and they were extremely reassuring to me and nothing was a problem for them.

My cousin had her baby at hills 3 years ago and her only complaint is that she was in a shared room the entire time. Everything else was fine.

I think there is good and bad in every place - positives and negatives. At the end of the day my decision for Westmead private is that my OB delivers there and not Hills and my OB is an angel.

Thanks girls. I booked into hills a couple of months back. I figure they are both great and its the closest for me and the Ob I choose has his rooms there. I appreciate your feedback though. All the best Lucy72 with your birth, sounds like Westmead is lovely.

Hi - I went to Westmead Private and have no complaints at all. I will go back there next time as well. My Ob had his rooms there as well.

As far as I am aware there are no shared rooms at Westmead Private other than the room where they put women prior to induction. Post delivery they are all private rooms and they are great. Like a hotel room!

My OB was Dr Tien and she is absolutely amazing. I love her to bits.

My only complaint about Westmead Private was the parking - very bad.

I was in a shared room after my c-section for 1 night due to the number of babies that were born the day before. But as I was c-section I was priority to get my own room and did the next morning. They only have 2 shared rooms and these are usually kept for women before having their baby ie: high blood pressure. They also have some rooms with a double bed.

If possible I would request a room overlooking the Atrium - very nice!

Hi,

I had our daughter (first) at Westmead Private and I loved it!! Everyone was so nice and it was a really nice hospital, it does really feel like a hotel :)

I agree with Lucy though, the parking is shocking but there are ways around it if you and you're visitors don't mind walking.

My OB was Dr Gayer and she was fantastic during the delivery - highly recommended.
