Hi,
Just wanting some advice - I'm a keen cloth nappy-er but my 6 month old has reeeeally chubby legs and all her pichers are giving her red marks (and making my mum tell me off for making her wear them  ). I bought some size 1 pilchers in the Kmart brand (not sure what it's called, but they're the cheapest style with the thin elastic) but they're already too small and they only go up to size 2 anyway, so that's obviously not going to be a long term solution. I know there are others around with the thicker elastic, which seems more stretchy, but they're all quite expensive and I'd like to know if anyone can recommend any particular brand / style before I invest my life savings in them. Also, I'd be happy to make some if anyone could recommend a pattern. I definitely want the waterproof kind - not a fan of the damp bum phenomenon!
Thanks.

Hi...I am having the same problem and I am desperate for a solution as I can't afford to switch to disposables. My son Matthew (2 this month) has already outgrown the size 2 pilchers around the legs. I am having to change his pants pretty much every time I change his nappy (every 2hrs or so) and it's just getting ridiculous. He isn't fat or even chubby (91cm tall, 14.7kg) so it's pathetic that he has outgrown them already. Has anyone got any advice??

Try the wrap style ones instead of the pull on type. That way they are adjustable.
hmmm I never purchase those cheaper ones... I found they were almost disposable the way that Jack outgrew them.. and the velcro wore... or the elastic carked (sp?) it.,.
I have two bummis... if you wanna have a sticky beak TL I can bring it to the dinner... I might even be able to get my hands on a babybeehind cover for you to play with too???
xx

with plastic pilchers i am finding they arent too good for DS they fit round the waist but leave a bit of room round the leg aera so he leaks  we have a wrap thats made of wool fleece and i love it :D its the only cover that seems to not let a litle trickle of wee out  we are going to buy some wool soakers for overnight use to combat the soaking through epidemic in our house lol heavy wetter + leaky piclher +soaking through overnite = wet bed
so far the ladies on here have given me great advice thats worked so i have faith that the soakers will be a good investment

there are lots of shops at www.ozebaby.com.au
you can click on the name of shops to have a look at their own site... so there are links to the weewuns and babybeehinds..
there are bummis at the weewuns... although apparently they are cheaper elsewhere.,..

thanks :D i'll go have a look now
When DS went through this stage (aren't they gorgeous!) I found the Motherease Airflow covers to be the best because I could adjust the waist seperately to the thigh thanks to the snaps. It is a PUL cover so no risk of compression leaks and probably one of my favourite covers. If cost is a huge issue, you could buy just one to try and hand wash it once a day while bub has some nappy free time. I have done that when I was short of covers and they dry in no time if rolled up in a towel and placed somewhere warm (like near a heater). You can get them from www.nipnaps.com.au
