 As far as I know (when I last spoke with them) you can change your payment type anytime and they just adjust it.

You can most certainly change your payment at any time. I was receiving fortnightly payments as FAO thought this was what I wanted when I applied for baby bonus for DD2. However, we would receive about $80 per fortnight for the 2 girls, so whilst I'm on maternity leave are trying to live without that money as it does make quite a nice lump sum come next tax time! I just called them and said and I wanted to change and they did it over the phone for me. They also said if I ever needed to revert back to fortnightly payments, just call and they'll change it back. It all gets reconciled at the end of the year, so if you can live without that little bit each week (I understand not all of us can, and we may not be able to now that I've reverted to unpaid mat leave) but it really does make a difference when you see a couple of thousand $ later on.

you can change it over the phone, or online or you can go in. They will update it on the spot. Most times I have found them very helpful for this type of thing.
cheers
