My one yr old has to go in for a sleep study next week. She sleeps way too long and is still tired through out the day. They think she mighty have sleep apnea. I am fed up with people telling me how lucky i am to have a baby that sleeps so much. It isn't right. Has anyone any advice on this?
Just out of curiosity, how much does your bub sleep?
My 16 month old has always been a very big sleeper but I've never worried about it.
No advice for you I'm sorry, just curiosity :)

She sleeps from quarter past six until 7 am (no waking in between). Then goes back down 8 am until 10.00 (sometimes 10,30). Then 2pm until 3pm. I think it's teh fact that she continues to yawn and show tired signs throughout he day that is the major worry.

I thought that was pretty normal sleep patern for a 1 year old? (But not talking from experience!!!!) But that she keeps being tired even when awake, that must be a worry for you! :(
I hope you get the answers you need from the sleep study! Goodluck, and keep us posted. :)
Hi :)
Up until this week (when it all went haywire!), Andrew was sleeping from 6.30-6.30 with no waking, back for nap at 8.30 till 10ish and another nap in the afternoon at 2-3.
Though he doesn't yawn and appear tired all through the day, he did have relatively the same sleeping pattern. When he awake he was happy and playful and alert and nothing to worry about there.
I just always said he took after his father, who could sleep underwater! lol
Have you seen a sleep specialist, or is that what this next appt is for? I'd be interested to know what they say about that level of sleep.
For what its worth, Andrew had that sleep pattern for months, and only this week it has reduced dramatically. He is now sleeping from about 8-7 at night, and only one nap during the day for 1-2 hrs. Its like he's a different child.
Hopefully your bub will be the same, and it will sort itself out and that there aren't any medical problems :)

Thanks mischief your good wishes cheer me up. All my friends' bubs who are the same age go to bed at the very earliest- 6.45. This is my first bub and i have no family around, so i don't have that much more experience than you really (except presumably you don't have a one yr old)

Noo, a different child in a good way? They reckon she might have sleep apnea and may need her adenoids out
A different child in a GREAT way :) He's been so fabulous this week - not that he wasn't before, its just different, he's matured into more of a toddler.
I hope it isn't sleep apnea. My BIL has it and he has a horrible time of it.
Hopefully your bub is just one that likes to sleep, like mine did. Fingers crossed for you :)
Who is 'they'? GP, or specialist, CHN??
