I am looking for some help in choosing a ring sling for my 1 year old...

Before my son was born, we bought a baby carrier... (similar to a Baby Bjorn). It was really expensive, and I thought it was going to be my best friend  ... turns out I hardly used it because it really hurt my back, and felt asthough it was squashing my insides!

My son is now 1, and while I was at the parenting expo, I tried him in a Maya Wrap Ring Sling, which I really liked!
I am now furiously researching ring slings to find the 'best' one.

I think I have almost decided on buying one off e-bay. It is a hemp/cotton sling, in a natural colour. It is made by a young mum on the Gold Coast... it has a Bubba Earth tag, which maybe means she makes them out of the Bubba Earth sewing kits?

I am wondering if anyone else has bought a ring sling off her, and if so... I would really like to hear about it!

Also, does anyone have a Maya Wrap Ring Sling? I'd also like to hear about peoples experience with it... like how annoying is the tail on it?

As I said, my son is 1 already and weighs 12kg, so I really need something that is going to be comfortable to help hold him on my hip... if you get what I mean?!
He doesn't seem to like staying in his pram anymore, and my arms are getting very tired from carrying him everywhere. (If I let him walk, he runs away!)

Any help/advice/testimonals you can offer will be VERY much appreciated!

Thanks ;)

I've got a Hip Bubby ring sling, and it's the best thing we ever got out of all the baby stuff. The number one thing I couldn't do without.

I'm also trying to figure out what sling to buy. Have you checked out the ring slings on ebay by chickadee. They are similar to the bubba earth ones for about half the price, there is another thread on them that Sassymummy (i think) started and they look great. (Sorry not sure how to add a link:confused: )

I haven't got one yet, i'm still deciding....but i will let you know if i get one soon. My DD is almost 2 and she weighs about 11.5kgs so i'm hoping to get some use out of it with her before the new bubs comes along.

Oh, cool thanks!
I had actually e-mailed this lady, to ask if she is making anymore. :fingerscrossed:
She only seemed to have the pouch slings in stock.

Jennasmum -
Thank you, I have checked out the Chickadees ones... and I also read Sassy mums thread.
Hmmm.... it is all so confusing!! I spent hours yesterday researching... I feel like I am just going 'round in circles!!
I'm just too darn indecisive! It's just a sling! :p

I think I will wait and see if the Hip Bubby lady replies...see what she says to say, and if it's a no go, I'll get a Chickadees one... I think!
At this rate, by the time I buy one, my boy will be too heavy to even use it  .

 I know what you mean MonkeyMum - i'm the same, so indecisive. Doesn't it drive you mad! I just know that i'll get one and then find another one and think oooh i should have got that one  so i've been researching them for weeks (on and off of course lol)

I was even thinking of going with the chickadee slings because they are cheaper i could get a ring sling and also one of her pouch slings too! I like the look of the pouch/sling carrier but the ring sling is adjustabel so DP could wear it too....see here i go again :ecomcity: I'll go now. Let us know which one you get and if your happy with it.
