View Full Version : Cleaning Stainless Steel Pans
I have just replaced my non stick frypans with stainless steel ones and am finding them a nightmare to clean!!!:banghead: Even after washing up they still have brown marks around the edges. I am soaking after cooking, but this doesn't seem to help. Any tips??
Have you tried any stainless steel cleaners? You can get them in the supermarkets in the cleaning isles. It might work
Steel Wool? You can get a non-scratch, non-rust variety that might be alright.
I still wouldnt trust them not to scratch though.. but I know they work as my MIL has stainless steel cookware and had the brown marks all over them as well.
Cream Cleansers can also work - they are less likely to scratch.

i use homebrand green scourers on mine and just wash them in the sink with my other dishes for realrd stuff i use steel wool.
You could also try scubbing with bit of baking soda (bicarbonate) and just enough water to dampen the soda. It's a mild abrasive, shouldn't scratch them, non-toxic and is excellent at lifting stains. I use it to make my stainless steel sinks shine - it's great at getting rid of that grungy discolouration around the drain.
Scotch Brite Scourer  is the best i've ever used. It's pretty heavy duty you might want to srub a small area to see the result if you dont want your pot any scratch marks. I dont mind a bit a scratch mark as long as it's spotless :p
