Hi i Just rang our Anglican Church Yesterday to get a date for Jacks Christening, It will be the 27th August.

So now that this is organised I have no idea what else I need to do.

When Lachlan was Christened, he has the dress I had as a baby, it was a pretty boring affair cause I didnt really know what to do back then either.

Jack is to big for my dress, cause I left it for so long, so since he is 6 months does he still wear a dress or does he wear a little suit??

What do you do after it?? We just had a little get together after Lochs. But there will be more people this time.

I also seen something on this site about a godparent gift, is this necessary, he has my sis and His dads sis as his godparents??

Any tips or advice or maybe even a list of what to do anything will be greatly appreciated and helpfull.

Thanks from Cat

We only had a very small ceremony, just immediate family.

A gift for the Godparents is a lovely idea, but don't feel that you have to. The Godparents might want to give you a present, or something for bub.

Ds's Godparents provided the christening cake for our get together after the service, which was lovely.

MIL made an extraordinary amount of food, and my parents bought some good champagne. Drinks and nibbles are much easier than a sit down meal, especially if there's kids running around.

Don't forget to take photos of bub with Godparents, the inlaws and your parents - oh, and yourselves of course.

I took a lovely photo of ds in his christening gown and had it made into fridge magnets for the family.

Hi

Our christening for Oliver was quite a big affair. We chose his godparents to be my Aunty and Uncle. We are lucky to have them be close to our age (their only 27) and they will always be part of Oliver's life. We gave them a small gift, just a footprint framed with his christening date inside. They loved it.

As for the outfit. i wanted Oliver to be in a gown. Many people don't like boys in dresses but personally it was what i wanted. It'll prob be the only time he can get away with wearing a dress:D

We had about 80 people to the ceremony and back to my parents place afterwards. Mum and myself love entertaining so had a great time organising it. we chose to have finger food as it makes people more likely to mix and wander with others and u dont have to worry about tables cutlery and plates etc. We had food like mini kebabs with satay diping sauce, sushi, vietnamese fresh spring rolls, garlic prawns with tails on so easier to pick up, risotto ( last minute suggestion as the day turned miserable so needed some warm up foor- served in tiny noodle boxes) and lamb on the spit which was sliced and put into mini bread rolls with rocket and aeoli. It sounds like heaps - and was, but most of it was so easy to prepare. day went beautifully:D

We had 2 kegs of mid strength (XXXX ) because it was an all day affair we dodnt want people sloshed by 2pm, and white and red wines.

Hope this helps let me know if i can help with anything else
