I'm having a fit of the guilts and feeling very paranoid and worried today. I did something REALLY STUPID a few weeks ago, I ate a few smoked salmon sandwiches and now I'm freaking I read on the internet that you can have listeria infection without any symptoms, so now I'm beside myself, so stupid. Has anyone else eaten smoked salmon whilst pregnant or just silly me?

It's only bad if you get sick. You're fine so no need to worry! :D

Thanks Ladies
My DH is constantly telling me not to read 'things on the net', but being the first time-paranoid Mum to be, I do and turn myself inside out! Again, thank you both, you've helped to allay my fears.

No probs-
My DH is constantly telling me not to read 'things on the net', but being the first time-paranoid Mum to be, I do and turn myself inside out! - Aah that was me - I had a bit too much wine at a birthday party before I knew I was preggers and made myself sick with worry after I scoured the net - think thats how I found bubhub in the first place. MY dd is now 11months old and perfect:smiliedance:

Promise me no more googling:D

see what we do to ourselves???? honestly you will be fine, you would know if somethig was wrong.....

I just always think about our Mums who ate anything and everything! My hubbies Mum loved salami when she was pregnant and I am sure salami is apparently a no no now...and my hubby is just fine!

I agree with the over reading of info, it can make you crazy......

The thing about listeria is, we're all at risk of getting it, whether we're pregnant or not, when we eat "high-risk" foods. The problem only comes if we are pregnant and we do get listeria, because it will affect the baby.
But think of all the times you've eaten smoked salmon and haven't gotten listeria. There is a risk there, yes, but it's a small risk, and worth taking if you really have a craving for smoked salmon IMO.
