View Full Version : Did I O?
Hoping someone can help? I thought I O'd yesterday (got + OPK on Wed night and full ferning yesterday). I also had another +OPK last night, but I've gone back to partial ferning this morning. Its my first month of charting and so I expected to see a big jump in my temp this morning, but it was flat. Does that mean I haven't O'd yet? If I O'd last night or even during the night, would my temp go up straight away? How long after O does temp rise?
Has anyone heard of Oing two days after +OPK?
We've been BDing every day this week, and I think DH would have a heart attack if I told him he had to do it one more time!!
I have never used opk's, so not sure about that, and I dont fully trust the ferning thing, but looking at your temps, and cm, I would say that you are very close to ovulating...

Chicken, with ovulation predictor kits, if you detect a LH surge, if you have intercourse in the next 24-36 hours, you will maximise your chances of becoming pregnant (read the instructions on your kit).
As for charting your temp, charting is one of the most accurate ways to detect ovulation. So, really you should keep BD'ing until you have 3 days of elevated temperatures to confirm ovulation (that is what fertility friend recommends). If your temp has not risen yet, I would assume you have not ovulated yet.
Looking at your chart (CM, ferning, OPK) it is possible ovulation could happen any day now. I would keeping BD'ing, but as far as I am aware, BDing every 2nd day would not hurt because sperm survive for up to 2-3 days anyway. All the best Chicken.

Hi Chicken
I don't want to confuse matters here, but I have had a lot of trouble with detecting O so I have done an awful lot of research this week.
I have found that in fact your temperature rises AFTER you have ovulated. The rise in temp is due to the hormones that are released when the egg breaks away from the follicle. It takes 1-2 days for that hormone - progesterone - to build up enough in your body to cause the rise in body temp. So you are actually most fertile 2-3 days before the temp rise.
So, if you were getting positive OPT and full ferning but no temp rise that should be right. You should have O'd and will see a temp rise to confirm it in 2-3 days.
Hope this helps and doesn't confuse or cause an uproar!!!

Oooh, ooooh, I wanted to add though, that your eggie can only survive 24 hours, but sperm can survive up to 72 hours (in fertile CM) so if you BD every 2nd day around when you think you may O, then your chances of the sperm being in the right place to catch it are pretty good. :p
Thanks Leilani - I'd just been doing a bit of research as well, and that's what I discovered too. Its normal to see temp surge 2-3 days following OPK+, so I should see the temp rise tomorrow.
