View Full Version : Should all school buses be fitted with seatbelts?
Afte this tragic accident today, I think it's time that all school buses were fitted with seatbelts. Lucky none of the children on the bus died, but sadly 2 people in the car that collided lost their lives.

I have always believed that buses should have seatbelts. Not just school buses.

some of the really nice coaches have seat belts (remember this from when i went on an excursion at school)....obviously the general public and school children are not as important then those who travel in such coaches.
yes, yes i think they should.
but wouldn't that hinder the capacity of the bus ?? as in 3 people can squeeze on one seat in most cases, if they put belts on the seats then they would not be able to carry as many people....its all about the money
i actually also think no-one should be allowed to stand either, they are not only a danger to themselves but also to those seated if there was a crash or sudden break.

Yes. To me it's a no-brainer. A bus is no safer than a car, and as a car passenger you've been required to wear a seatbelt for 20+ years. I don't understand how it isn't already mandatory for all buses to be equipped with seatbelts, and for their passengers to wear them as per cars.

i defiantly think they should be:yes::yes: school buses on the coast are so bad and need more buses
on alot of afternoons you would see 40 so kids crammed into one bus (standing, sitting in aisles etc) its awful  and so dangerous
Do we, the public, know for sure this bus didnt have belts in it?
These parents have paid good money to send their kids to this Christian school- Many Christian schools have their own bus. They should have had belts in that bus, hired or owned, money is not an excuse.
.
Public schools are just as bad, In a big city area where they have a choice, they do NOT hire bus lines that do have seatbelts. They can do this but they blo0dy dont because of the cost.
and they hire one bus and then cram in the kids. The kids are FORCED to sit three to a seat. It makes me sick.
THREE in a seat and no seatbelts!

I really don't know why they haven't got them in. Like seriously! Having no seatbelt on in a bus would be more deadlier then in a car!
You get thrown and smashed on hard rails, seats, other people, through the windows.
I just don't understand why they haven't got them in place.
I hope from this tragedy something good will come of it and the government re thinks regulations and make it compulsory to have seatbelts in buses
