Family tragedy strikes Sea Eagles
14:22 AEST Fri Sep 11 2009
A shadow has been cast over the NRL finals after Manly forward Glenn Hall's wife tragically gave birth to a stillborn baby on Thursday night.
Hall rushed from the Sea Eagles camp in Melbourne after his wife Kylie developed complications with her pregnancy which resulted in a stillborn baby boy, Lachlan Mark Hall.
"Kylie and I are grateful to the family and friends who have extended their thoughts and prayers at this most difficult of times," Hall said in a statement issued by the club.
"We would ask that our privacy be respected and that, instead of sending flowers, well-wishers can make a donation through www.stillbirthfoundation.org.au."
Hall, who played in last year's grand final victory, will miss Friday night's qualifying final against Melbourne at Etihad Stadium after originally being named on the bench.
"My immediate concern is for Kylie at this moment," Hall said.
"We thank my team-mates for their love and understanding."
The Sea Eagles players will wear black armbands as a mark of respect.
