View Full Version : Bath time
What do you bath your kids in? We use Bedtime bath by Johnson & Johnson but it is a bit expensive. Looking for something that is nice and a bit cheaper.

Water! :)
We wash him with a drop of Gaia on the cloth... a $10 bottle is still half full after 5 months.
Bedtime bath does nothing for calmer bedtimes if you ask me lol!
I still have a large bottle going from when the boys were first born, and some of the huggies bath wash as well- both are nearly empty now.
I don't really like J&J, as it gave the boys cradle cap when they were NB's, and B has eczma from it now.
So I am going to get something like QV or Dermaveen for them :)

We use Natural Instinct brand of baby bath, shampoo, conditioner, baby lotion and in fact wherever in our house a product is required. (including for home cleaning).
in my opinion this is a very affordable chemical free brand. our bath wash bottle still quite full after 6 months.
brand available from most chemists and health food shops.

We use Natural Instincts body wash for the bath. It is free from all the nasty stuff. It is $20 for a big bottle(1 litre, I think) and lasts for ages. Has lavender in it too, so if you like that calming effect, this is perfect.

J&J milk bath most of the time. Sometimes the coles one (the orange one) that's really cheap.

Letric Soda, bicarb, lavendar oil.
Velvet soap occassionally
Um ... water! Seriously!
We use J&J no more tears shampoo but that's it in the bath. My ds has ezcema so we have to be extra careful. And I'm highly allergic to lavender so the J&J bedtime bath is a big no-no!
We use Dove unscented soap as our hand soap.

My DD is prone to excema/dermatitis - I've found for her a small (tablespoon) of letric soda softens the water, and a tablespoon of bicarb seems to be enough to get most stuff clean .
I see that you can't use the lavendar oil :( :hugs:

we use this too, for us and ds1.
ds2 uses method baby: squeaky green bubbly bath.
both of these have nothing nasty in them whatsoever.
for a new bub tho, id only use water. but now that ds2 is on the floor alot practicing his crawling skills, i use the methodbaby on him.

Hi,
Just wanting to know if using a purified water and natural products like some of you have stated above would be an over the top way to go or is it just me being over cautious as a soon to be father?

Hi Jarrod, Maybe the purified water might be a bit much - depends on how hard or easy that is to do... but I definately think using a natural product is the best way to go.
Congrats on being Dad to be and all the best! :)

Same.
Until a child is 12months old, they dont need anymore than warm tap water.
Jarrod - A NICU unit will only use warm tap water & nothing more. Use that as a guide on what to use at home.
