Need help!!!!
I'm 28weeks, have had an odourous discharge for most of pg but now it's just gotten worse!!!
It really smells bad, pungent, sour, cloistering :barf:
Sorry for the TMI but can anyone relate????
I had a swab done at 24weeks which came back as thrush ......but does thrush really smell????
I'm so depressed, I can't stop :crying:
I just don't know what to think....................help?

First of all - chin up sweety, I know it feels like you're a stinky fat whale at the moment, but truly you are not. If you think you stink now, wait until that bubba poo's all over you  (it WILL happen!!:p) There'll be one day about next April when you'll have poo, spew, and puree'd fruit on you all at once, and you'll look back on this time and think "geez I wish I only had a stinky vadge right now"

I don't have any medical-type advise, perhaps you should ask your midwife/OB/GP about it. But until then, I know that I used one brand of pad after I gave birth recently, it was scented and masked the post-partum-bleed-smell. I can't remember which brand, sorry. Stayfree, I think?

I think you can also use the canestan or monistat pessaries which clear it up pretty quickly and easily.

Oh and the smell is probably from the thrush, if left untreated, it can get pretty nasty  and you can pass it onto your partner and start a give and take never ending cycle so he should get treated too. Men don't really show many symptoms though.

Natural yoghurt is also good to put on it as it has acidophilis which helps attack the yeast infection that causes thrush. It is also cooling.

Yes, it can be the thrush that's making you smell.

And you can use canesten cream internally - you just can't use the applicator - just your fingers. Make sure you wash your hands really well before and after, and get your DH to treat himself too.

:hugs: Sweetie - pregnancy hormones make everything seem worse.

I got thrush about 3 months in and used the canesten cream... i also used the applicator... the lady at the chemist said there would be no probs with this....

I hated having to use that cream though.... ergh... I felt all full.

I had thrush 2 weeks ago and I think it was due to a new body wash I was using. Canesten cream cleared it up in a couple of days. I didnt notice any odour though so maybe you should call your ob and ask whether you need to be concerned. I bought some of that 'Vagisil' feminine wash for 'downstairs' and havent had any probs since. Make sure your undies are cotton and if you use panty liners try Libra Breathable.

Phew so glad I found this thread........I have been thinking I am the only one with a stinky box in the whole world!!!!! lol.
It has just come on in the last week or so. No other symptoms to indicate thrush, just this horrific smell that by the time I wake up in the morning I want to :barf:

I think I will try canestan and see if that will get rid of it. I have Dr app't friday so will check with her then. I also have swelled up like a puffer fish so that as well as the smell makes me want to :crying: :crying: :crying:

Thanks

I've smelt different 'there' for the whole pregnancy. It's not there or not too bad most of the time but sometimes can be REALLY stinky and in no way like I've ever smelt before! Kind of like a cheesy rubbish bin (SORRY TMI!!!)

It's not thrush though - DH just said "of course you smell different - you have a whole different person inside you, and he's my son to boot so of course he'll be smelly!"

Gotta love tolerance!

Well I went to the Dr yesterday (got an earlier appt) and have had to have a vaginal swab and mid stream urine test (sorry if TMI) to check for a bacterial infection. If it is a bacterial infection it can lead to premature labour..............

If it is that she will put me on low dose anti-biotics for 2 weeks in the hope it will stop the infection and labour. She then said we will try and get you through to 34/35/36 weeks ........................

Oh my gosh that is terrifying!!! I had my DS 4 weeks early but having him to look after and a prem baby is more than I care to think about. Not only that I don't start maternity leave until 35 weeks so THAT may be a bit of a problem!!! lol.

Oh well, what will be will be I guess.

I would recommend anyone who thinks the smell isn't normal goes to their Dr as this can be really quite serious.

:fingerscrossed: for me!!!

When treating your partner/husband..

(a doctor told me this dont ask me why he said i had thrush but id idnt)

They need to pull back foreskin, fi they have it and just rub the cream in.

So much easier then us i think.

God bless our hormones changing our smells.

wow, good thread!! i posted one yesterday querying an irritation 'down there' so was good to find this one. i've had a yellow-ish discharge for a week or so, and it's been stinky, and i've noticed an irritation - kind of red and swollen. anyway, i'm guessing it's thrush!! might try the old natural yoghurt application (:barf: ) to see if it helps. Have Ob appt in 3 days time, so hopefully will be ok to wait til then?????
