I brought a medela swing breast pump for expressing and accidently threw out the instructions before using it! :embarrased:
I know how it all goes together but was wondering what the little rain drop button means and how to start... Do I just push the + button to up the speed and - to slow it down to my comfort
any help would be helpful thanks I know it's prob really simply but nervous about using it for the first time :P
:D

Thanks very much :-)
new question
will my milk stop automacticaly? Or will I have to stop it?
How much should I pump
should I do it an hour after feeding bub? Or when is the best time after feeding?
Can I pump the other boob while she is feeding?

new question
will my milk stop automacticaly? Or will I have to stop it? Yeap once theres no milk left it will stop coming out
How much should I pump as often or as less as you feel is needed
should I do it an hour after feeding bub? Or when is the best time after feeding? its probably best to pump after a feed so that you know bubs is full and then you will have enough milk once there hungry again
Can I pump the other boob while she is feeding?
Yeap most people get more milk while bubs is feeding from the other side
My answers are in red

I used to express while my bubs where in SCN and being tube feed
I would pump one side until my milk stopped flowing
then swap to the other same thing
then swap again to get any remaining milk out from both side
I would repeat this until there was nothing left (took about 30min)

I love love my madela!!! It a must have for any breast feeding mother!!!

I got my madela as my boobs produced way way 2 much milk in the first couple of weeks after my sons birth. i would express about 20mls from each after each feed.(just a little if only 2 reduce the build up in the breast).

I have gone out about 5 times..in which i have expressed so i can drink or just be away for a few hours.

My son has not had any more than 6 bottles from 5pm-2am. I express for about 1-2weeks b4 i go out thats way i can get a full bottle for him. from 1-3months i expressed arounf 60-90mls, from 3-6months i expressed around 100-200mls.

any questions just post( i know its all hard at first)

:) warning: the more you express and the more frequent you express the more you will produce..dont go crazy!! expressing for a healthy baby is different than expressing a prem baby. :)

I pumped after her feed I got about 30-50 mills all up ( she had feed from both sides)
I did hope for more lol
one of my motives is to increase my supply a little bit since she seams to be draining then is hungry sometimes 30 mins later
but I do need to stock up as I need to get a PET scan in a few weeks and I think I'll have to toss the milk after it from the stuff they put into me
and need to get the hang of it as I'm going back to work full time when she is 5 months and don't want to give up bfing
