Firstly I hope this is in the right section:

Hmmm well today in the mail we got the results back from the hearing tests that DD1 had to have done.

The diagnosis is:

Cannot exclude mild hearing loss

Has anyone else had this?

They did say that she got a little distracted and that might play a part, she also has some fluid in the ears which will cause those results. She needs to go back in 1 month to be re-tested on the 8/10. I am not sure what to expect, I just hope this test comes back better.

Good luck with the next test. My son failed several hearing tests before being referred to an ear nose and throat surgeon. They kept testing him as they were hoping the fluid in his ears would go but it never did. He's now in the waiting list for grommits.

My ds had similar results at his hearing tests - mild if any loss. It's just something that is used in combination with what else is going on to make a decision about treatment. Although my ds never had bad hearing on hearing tests he did have 12 words at 12 months and only 6 words at 14 months - that's when the paed and then the ENT said it was time for tubes. He had new words within 24 hours of the grommets and we never looked back.

Thankyou so much for the replies girls.

I never realised there was a waiting list. Where abouts are you from, if I may ask?
I hope if it does come to that stage where she will need grommits there won't be a waiting list. Did they tell you how long the time frame was?

Tubes.... I have never heard of them  Are they like grommits? Like with your DS, my DD has never failed a hearing test, yet she is barely speaking at all, maybe 3-4 clear words, and she can say " there you go " and " where's it gone " other than that it's all pointing and screaming here...

I am sure everything will b fine at the next test. but good luck... Tubes are grommets the ENT should b able to show u some before the surgery they r pretty tiny... But being disctracted plays a big part , how old is ur child being tested.. My 14 month got distracted n they said he had a sever hearing loss but tested again n he is perfect. Worse comes to worse they might have hearnge aids but there is worse i guess. My son 2.5 years old he has 2 cochlear implants best thing that eva happened still only says a few words but can hear his name and everything... that not being the worst i just ment some kids cant hear at all with aids or implants... and it is amazing how many kids in australia should b tested early. its awsome ur on the ball.... best of luck,....
