Hi

Im a 22yr old mum of an 18 month old son. We will be moving to Ipswich soon. I was wondering if there are other young mums in the area who would like to get together sometime or are in a playgroup I could join. I've never been in a mothers group before but am looking forward to getting to know other mothers as all my friends are childless. Anyway any help would be appreciated.

Hi LindaKay,

I live in Forest Lake so it is out your way. I am 21, I have a 19 month old and think I am pregnant with number 2 (got a very faint postive line on pregnancy test this morning). :smiliedance:

I have just finished my uni degree so have heaps of time on my hands. It would be great to get a young mums playgroup started out this way. We could rotate playgroup from house to house too.

Feel free to PM me to chat.:)

Hey,

I'm about 15 minutes from Ipswich, and have also been trying to meet people who live close by. I am 18 and I have a 5 month old daughter.

Hi LindaKay,

I'm 22 years old too :smiliedance: with a 5 month old. We live in Ipswich and would love to meet up.

I'm still looking for a good mothers group - theres none I can find thats accessible by public transport. grr

Maybe we COULD organise a playgroup that's close to public transport? (Or maybe there are some people out there who are willing to give other's a ride if paid petrol money?).

I live in Ipswich - in Silkstone. It's 10 mins drive from the Ipswich CBD.

I'm 20 and have a daughter who's nearly 1.

The only young parents group I've been able to find is in WINDSOR. It's AGES to travel there and back (on train, it was 2 hours there and 2 hours back...including "waiting" times). It was just a joke.

I'd definately love to have a playgroup nearby! (And actually have a friend who has kids! lol).

Hi all

If anyone has any suggestions of places we could all meet up at that would be great as I am really new to the area. I have just bought my first home in Basin Pocket. I don't know my way around the area at all so any suggestions of nice parks or kid friendly meeting places would be great. Im really looking forward to meeting new friends.

Thanks
Linda ( mum of Matthew 18mnths)

I'm interested in forming a playgroup in Ipswich CBD... I know theres a couple of playgroups at Eastern heights but they are too difficult to get to by bus it seems, so somewhere central would be great.

Where in the CBD could there be a playgroup?

Queens Park is probably the most child-friendly place...but then it's a little walking distance from the train station...but not TOO far I suppose (I'd be willing to walk that far...it's not really that far at all).

Perhaps, if a lot of people are interested...maybe we could set up an official playgroup and have a few fliers about it so other young mothers (and mothers to be) could join up. Maybe we could then hire a community centre or something...(or maybe there's a church that's willing to lend us theirs...? I dunno).

I'm getting really quite lonely being the ONLY person I know with a baby (well, only YOUNG person I know...I know a few people, but they're all 30+ and come from a different generation to me...).

Queens Park sounds good until we get something "official". I don't really now of any churches that are central. I'll be bussing it in, but don't mind the walk from outside the train station, but I guess we need to see if anyone else is interested in forming a group.

Well, like I said, I'd be interested...

It's just a matter of planning and seeing if anyone else is interested.

Yeah I'd be interested in meeting at Queens Park sometime. That's be great for DD too because she loves being outside and tends to get very grumpy if she is indoors somewhere she doesn't know!

Hi there all.

I've just joined and read alot of the posts here, and I really didnt notice how many young mums live right around my area and have the same problem as me!! I'm 20 and have a 2 and a half yr old daughter and one due in 5 weeks (november 24) and have been wanting to find someone around my age with kids i can go out with and kids can play etc. I am very interested in meeting up with you, and I have a car to get around so going places and helping people get to places isnt a problem :)
