Hi ladies,

Just wondering if any one has used the BBT method. I want to start recording my temps each morning but am wanting a bit more info about patterns I should be looking for, how much should temp rise by at Ovulation etc etc.
Also when they say that your temps should rise after ovulation, does that mean if you take your temp in the morning and it is say 37.2 then should it be a similar temp throughout the day as well? :)

Hi mumtooneboy,

If you are completely new to BBT charting I would suggest you join up to Fertility Friend and do their charting course. That will give you a very good idea of what you are looking for etc.

Good luck. There is heaps of help around on bubhub and plenty of chart stalkers who will always be happy to take a look at your chart and comment for you.

The short answer is this:

1. You want to take your temp every morning, at approximately the same time, before getting up, talking, drinking, or eating.
2. Use a thermometer that can measure tenths of a degree.
3. When you have a dip in temp, you should be DTD that day. The dip is less certain - not everyone has it, and it can differ from woman to woman and cycle to cycle.
4. If you have a spike (for me its 0.4 degrees) the next day, then you have probably ovulated.

Here are my current and previous charts if that helps: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/291a32

GOOD LUCK!

I used fertility friend the charting on there will find your O day. The temp degrees differ very slightly but when you look at the chart you can see a definite dip and high temp the day after when the egg is released. Chart for a couple of months and then you will see the trend.
Always temp before you move or even go to the toilet. 1/10 of a degree can make a major difference. Don't temp throughout the day that is inaccurate first thing in the morning only.

I did temp for one month knew I o'ed towards the end of my cycle but didn't know exactly when it worked out day 26 of a 34 day cycle so we didn't 5 days before that for a girl and I was spot on. She was a girl.

Good luck,

Hi there,
Thanks for the info. I have read somewhere that they say you should only take your temp after 3 hours of continuous sleep. The problem is I always wake up at least once in the early hours of the morning, so never have that full 3 hours sleep before finally waking up for the day. Will that make a difference when charting my temps? :o)

I think constant movement and temping after that is the prob. Trt to rest and do early morning ones. I had to wake up to kids (3) when we were TTC but it all worked out cause I was preggers in the first month of trying.
