I'm taking dd to get her 8 week shots tomorrow at the GP's office, do these cost anything? Or are they free of charge? I just realized I have no idea. Dh and I are both in the defence force and have had nothing to do with mainstream healthcare in years lol

Most GP's bulk bill you for immunisation, however I would double check if they will bulk bill you for the consultation fee or not.

Immunisations are free and i usually dont get charged for the consult but maybe double check..should be fine with the medicare card just give them your number for their records that's what I did...

I rang the doctors and the consult will be $60 because we don't have our Medicare number. We have to take our form to Medicare to get the money back, which I find to be a huge pain the butt. They're going to ring Medicare and see if they've processed our forms and if we have a number then they'll bulk bill the cost :(

My immunisations didn't cost anything and I got whooping cough at the same time and wasn't charged. You can always mail claims to Medicare, I've been doing that lately and it has only taken about a week to get the money back, as they have our bank account details.

Good Luck! :smiliedance:
