View Full Version : Body reacting to sperm - not sick with a different FOB?
Just wondering if anyone has heard this theory before? I have heard from a few people, that how sick you get can depend on your partner's sperm and your body's reaction to it ie. if you have babies to one partner, you may get a lot of morning sickness, but if you separate and have a different father for the next baby you may not get sick/or get more sick depending on your body's reaction to his sperm. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this theory or heard of it before? I have two boys to my ex husband and was sick the WHOLE entire 9 months, throwing up in excess of 5 times a day every day. I now have a new partner and we plan to have two more children...so I'm definately hoping that there may be some truth to this theory! It would be interesting to know...

Im sorry but that sounds like a huge load o hogwash to me. By the time you are pregnant and end up with morning sickness, the sperm is no longer there and there is a fetous instead.
If it were true, you would be sick every time you have unprotected sex, and I believe THAT can be true, but not in regards to morning sickness when pregnant.
Never heard it before either.
My DS1 has a different father to DS2 and this bub. I had morning sickness constantly for the entire pregnancy with DS1. No m/s at all with DS but am sick as a dog with this bubba (same father) so I dont think it's true.

 never heard this either. And would doubt it would be true. I didnt have morning sickness with my first 2, but had shocking morning sickness with my 3rd, all with the same father.
Thanks guys...although I was hoping there was some truth to it :( Looks like I'll just have to be prepared for another 9 months of sickness next time around unfortunately!

I dont believe that there is any truth to that. However dont give up yet. Had horrible ms for the majority of my first two pregnancies. Now i am 13 weeks with my third and the ms has been a breeze this time compared tot hem adn its almost gone!!

MS has to do with mainly how your body handles the HGC hormone i think.
but never fear it can still be different each pregnancy.
my HCG levels have been on the low side with both my girls and i have not has MS as yet, both my sisters on the other hand hate me . i dont know one sisters levels when she is pregnant but my sister who is pregnant with her first has very high HCG levels, double what they are meant to be(only one bub though) and she has had an awful time.
I've never heard of it. With my DS I never had a day of sickness. With this bub (I'm 11 weeks) I have had all day and night nausea since 5 weeks.
I think every pregnancy is different even with the same partner :)
its not exactly the sperm that can make a different prwegnancy but rather the DNA and there is evidence to support this. the placenta in a subsequent pregnancy with a different father is made up of half your DNA and half of the fathers DNA and therefore you can experience a whole range of different ailments with that pregnancy.
as for morning sickness no one knows what causes it specifically and this varies in pregnancies even with the same father.
