hi,
so im TTC while breastfeeding as i really want another bub. Im not sure if i ovulate, AF comes every 4-6 weeks, i use a maybe baby which i used first time around and worked well, this time i cant seem to even get one 'ferning' pattern. I know my maybe baby still works. ive just started taking vitex, i dont really know anything about ovulation, can someone tell me signs my body is giving me when i ovulate??

Hi Missymoo9
I am in a similar situation to you. I am also trying for another bub. I have heard conflicting things regarding the accuracy of Maybe Baby, unfort it was only after I purchased one. :o( It says on the packet that certain things can effect the accuracy, one of which is breastfeeding, so this could be why you are not getting ferning. However I have recently stopped breastfeeding 2 weeks ago and I am getting no ferning either. I got a positive on an opk though... very confusing. I am also not sure if I am ovulating.
It could be that you are not ovulting yet if your cycles are 4-6 weeks. Have your cycles always been that length? Re the signs of ovulation, most women get CM around the time of ovulation. Also if you try charting your temperature daily (just before getting out of bed), over the month you can see a pattern of when you ovulate as you should get a drop in temperature just before ovulation, and then it is supposed to increase for the next couple of weeks until you get your period. :flowerz:

Hi Missymoo
I used HPK's and other methods but got so incredibly confused with it all...
What worked really well for me, was to learn more about my body.
I started taking a combination Evening primrose oil/fish oil/ linseed oil (omega 3,6 &9 capsule)
The evening primrose oil worked really well in increasing CM so I could work out when it was EWCM.
Many women swear by it.
I found that after taking it an being able to clearly define sticky/creamy non fertile CM to pre fertlile CM and totally fertile egg white CM.
Unfortunately I've missed a few months due to having my partner away and have just missed BDing the day when the egg white cervical mucous is present.
But I do think it's been really interesting to learn about the CM and cervix position.
I noticed this month my cervix was really soft, high and open a few hours after EWCM and then closed and started to harden pretty quickly, so it made a lot of sense that I had not necessarily been having trouble as I thought I was, I was just having trouble timing it perfectly.
I found this guide (http://www.ovulation-calculator.com/cervical-position.htm) really helpful as I had NO idea at first but wow really interesting to have that understanding of your body, it's something that I guess we don't see happening as it's inside, but really useful to have the knowledge if needed I think.

Hi MissyMoo,
I used 2 brands. First Response, and also Confirm. I found The Confirm brand to be really good. They are very sensitive so pick up the LH Surge quite well. You can get them from Coles for $19.95 for a packet of 5 + a pregnancy test. :o)

I am not sure re the breastfeeding thing. I was breastfeeding our son till 2 weeks ago. I got my period back when he was 9months old. I have had 3 cycles. The first one being lighter and a bit longer between the start of that one and the next one. The other 2 have been normal 29 days. The reason I stopped breastfeeding was because I heard that it is possible to have your period yet still not be ovulating whilst breastfeeding, and because we are wanting to have another bub..... Now I still don't know if I am ovulating after all that :o)
How long have you been trying to concieve for?

We had the same problem with our son. We started to introduce a bit of formula at 7 months, just basically topping him up as my milk supply had reduced quite a bit. We found the only teet that he would take milk from was from a brand called Pigeon and I think they are called Soft Spout. They are White and come in a packet of 2. You have to look around for them, as not every Pharmacy stocks them. Friends of ours had the same problem with their child so told us about them.
I came off the pill about 2 months ago, so we have been trying since then. I guess its early days yet. I just would like to know whether I am ovulating though, so at least each month there is some chance.
How old is your son?

my son is 8 1/2 months, young but i would like them within two years of each other. My bub hates formular, tried so many different types, i have those bottles, ive got so many types of bottles....once you try him with milk he will just scream and not let it near him. im gonna try him again tomorrow.. he really uses bf for comfort, and wakes for it throughout the night

Its actually the teet itself that our Son would only take not the bottle. Heres the link below where you can purchase them online. Our son is 12 months in a weeks time and we too want a short gap between bubs.
I found the same thing with our son, regarding needing comforting in the night. The thing that worked for us, (and it might be hard for a few nights but worth it in the long run), is to just let him cry himself back to sleep as I knew he wasn't hungry. After 4 nights he started sleeping through and now sleeps from 7pm-7am.
