Hi as a few of u know dp is down in wodonga starting his course. Well he's been down there for 4 weeks whilst DHA haven't been able to help us with ne accomadation so DD and I have stayed here in canberra just playing the waiting game which i must admit is getting very very annoying! We have been playing it this way now for 6 very long months and my god i'm over it!!
So in the last couple of days, after chasing DHA employees, we have been given a house :smiliedance: YAY! so now we kinda know whats going on though we won't be in there for another 3 WEEKS!!! but it's better than nothing i guess. Is DHA always like this? i found them so helpful and co operative when DP first finished his training now it's like they just don't care and that we are just another name on the list!
Also no that i know that i will be in wodonga for atleast 12months, i'd love to meet ppl from there so i can find out what it's like to live there? I'm familiar with the small town environment so hopefully i have no problem fitting in with other wives/spouses.
Ne one with ne info please PM me
Thanks
Neesh

Hey Neesh - I'm sorry your having such a rough trot with DHA. Sometimes they're great, and other times they're a pain in the rear end!

I'm glad that they finally gave you a house - YAY :smiliedance: Aint it good to have a roof over your head?

I dont know anyone in Albury/Wodonga area myself, but try putting a post in the southern NSW threads - you may just find someone!

Best Wishes,
Pink Lady

We had previously rented privately and moved into a DHA residence three weeks ago. They were great, helpful etc it depends which office you deal with from what I heard. They offered us brand new four bedroom, double remote garage, air con, heating big backyard etc.

They were great from who to go and really helpful in ceasing rent allowance from private rent, booking our accomodation in the hotel for the night before we moved in, our prepack and unpack was at commonwealth expense therefore saved us $2000 as we have loads and loads of things that needed moving.

In short I found them great. Sorry your experience was ****.

In order for you to get anywhere with DHA, you have to keep hounding them!! The girls at Albury Wodonga HMC can be quite friendly and helpful, but make sure you follow things up!
