DD2 hardly drinks anything at all, so I'm looking for a way to get extra liquids into her. My CHN advised me to give her jelly, but I'd prefer not to be giving her too many food colourings.
How can I make jelly with plain gelatine, so that I can add my own fruit juices for flavour?

hi!!!
its eay as
you just buy your gelitin disove it in boiling water (derection on the pack differs depending if you buy crystals or sheets) and add your juice
you can use fruit purees to not juice clear juices
also you can get vegan gelitin or look for AGAR wich is made from a plant in the aloe family that will make jelly though it wont set wobbly hard like gelitin more like aspic
sure can!! it's easy and yum. But don't use fresh pineapple or kiwi as the enzymes in them will prevent it setting.
I used agar agar to make jellies when DS was a little bub that I could take out with us. It stays set at room temp rather than having to be fridged like geletin.

If you choose to use gelatin then this is the best ratio to use. I always work on 8 gelatin leaves per litre of liquid. Or 40g of powder to 1 litre. As said above pineapple and kiwi are out. I think paw paw is a bit dodgy too.
Gelatin can have a strong taste sometimes so you may need to use a flavour with a bit of oomph.
Goodluck, I'm sure you can come up with sum yummy treats.

I have the same problem with one of my DD's. I use the gelatin powder - 3 teaspoons to 500ml, directions are on the packet. I get it in the cake making section at the supermarket.
I make up a litre at a time and it is about 1/2 water 1/2 fruit juice - usually apple or pear and I don't add any extra sugar.
All 3 girls eat it quite happily either by itself or with some yoghurt. It is a good way to get extra fluids into your kids.
