Cameron has been teething and I'm so close to breaking point. His first tooth came out without any trouble whatsoever. We knew he was teething from the red cheeks and the constant biting, but nothing that disturb him or me - then one day, I noticed the tooth. I was over the moon that it was so easy.

The second one reared its head quite easily too. Then it disappeared. Now, it's trying to get through again, and it's giving us all this grief!

I guess it's nothing that's never been experienced by other people, but how do you all do it? He's got the red cheeks, blocked nose, irritability, restless sleep, loss of appetite/food refusal....

It's just so hard and seems like we're in a cycle - he won't eat (was on three solids meals a day), so always seems hungry, which means he's even more irritable, won't sleep properly without being full which causes even more irritability and lack of appetite as now he'd be too tired.... All he wants is boob and I don't think i have enough milk for him as he's been on three solids/day for the last month and a half. He won't take the bottle. Tried spoon feeding him formula but refuses that. Refuses even water which he normally never seems to get enough of.

I sleep either sitting up or standing up against a wall whilst holding him, or laying down with my nipple in his mouth.

The ONLY thing I have to be thankful for is that he doesn't bite my nipple as I would take him off whenever he bit me when he was three/four months, so he's learnt not to bite.

Even when he's sleeping in my arms, it'd only last for about an hour. I noticed he would sleep in his stroller today (even if it's only for 20 mins at a time) so I have him in that know. OMG it's taken me TWO hours to type this!

I've tried Panadol, Nurofen, teething gel, and now I'm trying this stuff called Hyland's Teething Gel. Has a money back guaranteed so I tried it - looks like I'm going back to get my cash tomorrow. The thing is that he just doesn't seem to fall into a deep enough sleep for me to put him down (except for the stoller) even with the pain relief.

Has ANYONE got any tips or advice??? How much longer will this last for? I can see the tooth just under the gum.....

For my son it has lasted nearly 2 years. I'm sorry to tell you but it has been just as painful for me as it was for him. He was a real whingey child and the teething made it worse. He teethed from 3 mths and got his forst tooth at 5 months. I think some children have a higher pain tolerance than others so handle it better. If you've got a live wire of a child like mine it never seems to stop. There is no magic cure although I wish there was just panandol to help them sleep.
