Just interested to know if there are any vegetarian mums/families that might like to meet up sometime?

I'm on the southside of Brissie and have a 12month old daughter.

Me! I am new here in Brissie (actually also in australia), I have two kids one is 3 y. and the other one 7 months old.
I would like to meet up one day, or just keep in contact...
We live on the north side (innernorth) and I am without car in the moment, so I cant travel too far (but could come to the city probably..)
just email me if you like... (magraeb@web.de)

Hi! :D

I'm travelling at the moment but my husband and I are moving to Brisbane in September... we don't have any children yet though- we're TTC next year. Nice to here from veggies in Brisvegas though :smiliedance:

Hey I've been a vegetarian for the last 8 years and am raising my son to be one as well. He is 20 months atm.
We are on the southside as well.

hi

I have been veggie for about 12 years (dh longer than that) and are raising the boys without meat.

however, since ariving in australia last year, we have succumbed to a little fish :devil6: , as we find the veggie options in shops and particularly restaurants, not as good as the uk.

any recommendations for restaurants/cafes that serve good veggie food, and are child friendly would be appreciated!
we are inner north/west.

My partner and I are aspiring vegans, we're on the northside brisbane :) My little boy is only 6 months old and I'm yet to do research on raising a young child vegan, or even vegetarian - hopefully it can be done without jeopardising his health. I don't think I could bring myself to cook most meat products, or dairy.

Meepers, as for restaurants and cafes, there's not too many around. There used to be a good one in fortitude valley called veg out, but it lost most of it's business when mcdonalds opened. My friend was just telling me earlier about a great hare krishna place in the city on ann street. I can't remember what it's called but it's apparently above Skinny's music shop on Ann Street. I'm researching it though, so if I find anywhere good I'll report back to you! Even the supermarkets are slack with stocking vegetarian stuff here, my local woolworths has only JUST started stocking tofutti cheese. Vegan stuff is even harder to find, although my partner always has new ideas for meals, and we're always eating something rad and new.

If you find any good restaurants, cafes, shops etc, let me know!

The Hare Krishna place in the city is called "Govinda's". It's in Elizabeth Street (opposite the Myer Centre). It's pretty good. It's all you can eat for $7.50 (it might be more now though, i haven't been in quite a while). It's all Indian food.
They also have a Hare Krishna cafe at west end. I've never been there though.

If you go to the Vegetarian/vegan society of QLD website. They have a page with veg restuarants with reviews and stuff.

The Krishna cafe in West End is awesome. Really lovely people... good food and lots of it! They used to have discounts for students and concessions on Tuesdays, am assuming they still do it.
I have a friend that used to eat there free when he was broke.

I haven't been there since I had my son though... there is a set of steep stairs at the entrance, so not keen on taking the pram up there!!

It's the same deal with Govinda's in the city... a set of steep stairs leading up to the entrance...hence why i have not been back since having my son as well.

99 Elizabeth Street, Brisbane City is the address if anyone is interested.
