Can anyone tell me the rate of pay for a teacher aide?

I'm a qualified teacher, but considering teacher aide positions to fit in with the kids. Im trying to figure out if working 3 days a week would be finacially worth while or if im just better off at home

I'm a teachers aid in Vic and basically on the top level. I've returned to P/T (2 days per week 8.30-4.30) and roughly I get $567 per fornight, after tax. How ever, sound like you would be on the base rate coz your "new" and you'd be getting under $500 a fortnight for 2 days per week.

It has it's pros and cons, no reports or planning, but you are still required to attend meetings etc.

I would think you would be far better off working as a relief teacher- $220 per day after tax from 8.45 til 3.30. Put your CV at a few schools stating your only available to work xyz days. I know the school where I am are desperate for teachers and teacher aides!!! And we have lots of part time mums!!!

Depends on the school. I've been doing relief at schools and daycares, some schools are $24/hr, some up to $27/hr casual wages.

I will be watching this thread closely. Im also a qualified teacher but am considering applying for aide positions at independent schools so that I can live with DF!

I've almost done 12months in Edu Qld 3 hrs away from him and don't know if I can do another 12 months!

I wish there were more jobs in the city! :(

Been doing my homework and this is the victorian schools rates of pay. In Vic teachers aides, integration aides in main stream or specialist schools are called Education Support staff. And are Level 1, range 1. Starting at 1.1 through to 1.5 with experience.

The figures are for full-time staff and most are 48/52 meaning your pay is for 48 weeks, but it it average out over 52weeks coz of the holidays. So if you were to start at range 1.1 your full-time salery would be $33,967 before tax.

As an aide you can only go higher than a level 1.5 in victorian schools if you have an extra duty issued by the principal and if they deem it worthy of a pay increase.
Ranges 2 - 5 and their different levels are basically business mangement staff, paramedical etc.

Hope this helps a bit more
