I have a 5 week old baby boy who is so constipated he is on Karicare AR for reflux which is not bad at all but the formula is not helping him poo i was thinking of changing back to the normal Karicare, could that hurt him and should it hwlp with the constipation?

If he has reflux then yes changing from AR back to normal will affect him. If he's constipated try putting a little prune juice either in water between every second feed or in every second formula bottle

My DD got terribly constipated on Karicare as well. She was also a reflux baby and we put her on Nan HA formula - the one that says on the tin `easy to digest' and it sorted her out completely.

She was on Losec for her reflux so we didn't have to get her a special formula.

I think Karicare is a real problem for constipation.

Is your bub on any medication? Our DD started for reflux at 4 weeks and it made such a huge difference to her little life - she was always in pain until we started Losec.

Have you just started on the Karicare AR? My son is on that too for reflux. For the first week he was quite constipated and I was going to switch back to normal formula because he appeared to have bad tummy ache but we persevered with it and now he's very regular. I think it just took a week or 2 for his body to get used to the thicker formula.
