I had day surgery yesterday... a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. Ouch! I'm sitting here at home watching telly and feeling a bit sore and sorry from myself :o 3 incision wounds in my abdomen.
Has anyone else had these procedures done?
How long did it take for your wounds to heal and did you get the sore collar bone/ shoulder area? I had planned to go back to work tomorrow (school teacher) but if this pain is still here I prob shouldn't!
I've been ttc from 3 years now and they were having a 'look-see' to check for what might be wrong with me (possibly endo).
Also has anybody out there with endo been able to fall pregnant? I know it's possible..just wanted to hear some stories..
Thanks :)

WOW.. You want to go back to work tomorrow?? Your crazy!! :p

I had a lap done a few years ago.. WOW the shoulder tip pain is unbearable... I stayed in hospital over night and wasn't out until the following day due to that pain!

I spent the first 2 days in bed with the occasional get up with the help of DF.. unable to walk as the pain was out there.. after the first couple of days I managed to be able to lay on the couch... maybe about day 4 was I able to sit up properly and walk without being crouched over like an old granny..

In all.. I had 1 week off of work.. It was suggested from my Gyno at the time.

And Yes I have PCOS And Endo... and am currently 10 weeks pregnant.. it did take us 19 months to get here, 4 of those months being poked with needles from acupuncture and swallowing disgusting herbs and remedies :ecomcity:
Good luck! :flowerz:

Thanks for your reply, Dreamtobe

Gosh, it did take you a while to recover from your lap! Hubby has had to help me get into and out of bed, but once up, I'm able to stand for a little while. Shoulder pain is definately worse then the pain at the incision sites. Last night I was in tears! Although the pain is still present, I feel better today. Perhaps I was a bit eager to get back to work..If I wake up feeling crappy tomorrow I'll call in sick.
Congats on your pregnancy :yelclap: Hope it is all going well. If the results come back for me as endo.. I'll think of your story! I'll be pregnant one day too!

Yep had one in Jan this year....

The shoulder pain was BAD really BAD thats from the gas they pump into your abdomin cavity rising up to your shoulders to evaporate... its gone in a couple of days.

I was out and sent home the same day and my DF looked after me amazingly well. He did help me up for a day or two then I was fine really fine. I didnt hurt too much after day 3.

BUT I did get infections in the stitches and had to go n get it cleaned out daily for a week.

I had nuerofen and for the first 3 days di-gesics. So that probably helped.

I found out 2weeks later that I was pregnant at the time of the proceedures and I am now expecting #1 in 3weeks! (they think that the tubes were blocked with mucus)

I had a lap many years ago. I did get some shoulder pain but if I remember correctly that was gone by the end of the next day.

I had mine done on the Friday & was back at work on the Monday.

My biggest problem was with the stitches that were on the incision near the belly button. They killed every time something touched them - like my clothes & that continued up til I had them removed a week or two later.... a lot of years ago so I don't remember exactly when I got them removed.

With mine they found everything was completely normal so I felt very let down after putting myself through all that for no result.

WOW.. You want to go back to work tomorrow?? Your crazy!!

Can I just echo those words?

I've had a couple of laps as well as more extensive surgery and a week is what I needed as a minimum. I did get the shoulder tip pain once but found lying down in one particular position really helped.

I hope it won't be too long until you finally have your bubba

Have had 2 laps

First one I had some pretty bad shoulder pain. The actual site of the holes were pretty ok ... so when the shoulder pain and nausea went away I was fine.

Had Lap on Tuesday and went back to work Friday.

Second one was absolutely fine. No nausea, no pain, I had my DD by then and was back to normal within 2 days.

As for falling pregnant, I had been trying for 3 1/2 years before finally getting in to see my wonderful FS. He did a lap as I had a really large fibroid cyst ... and found extensive endo and almost blocked tubes. We had gone in with a plan of ovulation tracking for 3 months, and then would consider IVF. After the lap he said there was basically no chance of me conceiving naturally so he would book me in for the IVF. There was a bit of a wait for that anyway, so we decided we would do the 3 months tracking as planned, and start IVF after that.

I fell pregnant naturally in the 3rd month of tracking. :D Had my DD, no problems.

Sadly I cant have any more due to other issues .... but rest assured - it CAN happen.

There is a "Window" after a lap of about 4-6 months where you have increased fertility ... so best wishes.

I havent had one but I find out tomorrow if I will be.

Ive been stuffed around with weird rising HCG etc and now they think it is an ectopic so I may be having a lap soon...eek. But thanks for the thread, now I know what to expect.

All the best for the future, I hope you fall pg very very soon!!

OK well I have just come home from having my laporoscopy and a d&c. They didnt see anything on my tubes which rules out an ectopic so thats great. They think it is my molar pregnancy that was coming back making my hcg levels rise so thats why they did the d&c.

I had the op at 12:30 today and was out 2 hours later...I persuaded the nurses to let me go home as I was meant to go in for surgery last night so I was quite sick of the hospital lol.

Pain isnt bad at all, just a wee bit tender :) I hated the canular more!!! ICK I hate those things!!
