View Full Version : Calling all Doulas / Potential Doulas
Hi there:wave:
Just wondering if there are any:-
Doulas or
Ladies thinking about becoming Doulas
here in Brisbane, who might like to get together and have a cup of coffee and a bikkie sometime!?
I would really love to start up a regular get together for Doulas to talk about Doula-stuff and just to build up a little circle of support.
Would love to hear from anyone who might be interested.......:)

Hi Tracie
I'm thinking about starting the training while I'm maternity leave with this bub, I have a year off work so hopefully I can manage it.
Would love to get together with others in Bris, count me in. Am especially interested in hearing how others with little ones (my two will be one and three by the time I'm finished) manage in this role with being on call 24/7 - this is my big hurdle with it as I don't have family here to help us out.
Anyway I'm rambling LOL.

Count me in Tracie and what a fabulous idea. I am attending my first birth later in the year and would love to meet up regularly with like-minded folk.

Count me in- that sounds great!! I think it would be wonderful to meet other doulas and doulas to be (like me). When were you thinking of getting together? Does everyone else have children?
Ok...sounds like we have a little group.....best organise something?
Happy to volunteer my place ..... is there a good, bad or better time for everyone?

we can fit in with most times- though Wednesday is always out! I have an amazing mothers group that I go to every fortnight, and Uni in the evenings this semester!
Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hello Tracie,
I myself was researching doula training about 6 years ago, but at the time it was really quite unheard of here in Australia. I am now in the process of readying myself for further study at uni, ultimately to study midwifery. Having recently moved from Victoria to Brisbane, my social network is still in it's "development stage", and so I would love the chance to have a coffee and chat with like minded women.
I am also planning a second pregnancy and so the timing to meet experienced and trainee doulas would be perfect......a connection with one special doula is sure to be made.:hugs:
I am quite flexible with days/times. I am child-free Wed-Fri (9am-2pm). Other days are fine too, but would have to bring along my 4 year old muchkin. Nights are fine too.....especially if they involve a glass of wine. (only exception....I'm in Melbourne 28-31st July)
Please keep me informed as to the details of the meeting place, dates, times etc. My mobile number is 0414 981 597 or just send a pm if you prefer.
Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi Lisa, - would be just lovely to have you along!
What do you think everyone ....
How about next Thursday morning 9.30ish?
Bring all your beautiful bubbas - I will have one (the other will be at Pre-School)
so they can all roll around on the floor together or run around the back-yard.
Is that OK?

Hi Tracie,
Next Thursday sounds good to me. Do you want to send a pm with address details?
I've just arrived home from a Birth Rites support meeting, and feel really ready to face what the future holds. There were 5 student midwives, which made for interesting discussion too.
Anyway, now off to bed.....absolutely exhausted.
Bye

Hi ladies
Just wanted to fill you in on our "doula gathering". We did meet a couple of weeks ago and had a lovely morning tea, chatting about all things "doula", and getting to know one another :ecomcity:. Friendships are being built, which is fantastic.
We are actually planning on another get together next week, at this stage, possibly Tuesday night. Not sure where, but will keep all posted. (probably will be inner South).
Cheers.
Lisa
Unfortunately I work Mon, Tues, Wed nights till 9. Would love to meet with you all though if at another time or you are starting late. I live and work inner southside so :fingerscrossed: I'll be able to make it.
Hi I'm new to all this I've got a 6wk old boy and would love to meet other mums that are interested in doula/birth education i'm on the northside of Brisbane though can travel (need to get out of this house sometimes) I have not looked into the course yet still want some more info on it. Can I join your gathering?

Hi Everyone,
Tuesday night is definitely a goer - we haven't worked out a venue yet, but will be inner city somewhere and will choose somewhere easy to find and park at etc.
Was thinking around 7.30ish?
Anyone interested is of course very welcome - just let me know if you want to come along, so we can make a booking.
Cheers
Tracie
