My DH and I got married in 2002 and three months later we started TTC
6 months after going off the pill and having iregular cycles my gp diagnoised me with PCO and I was refered to IVF clinic 2003 was filled with more blood test and semen anaylisis to confirm my gps initial diagnosis
in 2004 I was given a script to start clomid and metformin but we decided to wait because I was in my final year of study so we just kept trying by ourself
in 2005 we went back to clinic with new doctor and did more test internal xrays and ultrasounds
2006 we started clomid and was on it for a year with out success at the end of the year I went back to the clinic to discuss options and
in 2007 we started iui. 5 cycles later at the end of the year our doctor said to have a break
over the five years we heard all the advice imaginable to fall pregnant
the ones that ****ed me off the most "take a holiday" "stop trying" and then ppl will tell me about the success stories that only hurt
over 30 babies were born around us and I listened to all the gripes about pregnancy from these women with fake smiles on my face
when I complained about the pain of the iui procedures one women said "yeah? Try having an internal when your 9 months pregnant!"

in 2008 weeks before our appointment to go back to iui I was diagnoised with cancer, stage 4 hodgkins lymphoma
I had to start chem, I refused to start until talking to my doctor, ppl thought I was crazy to worry about falling pregnant and that I should concentrate on fighting cancer, my mil wanted to blame the iui for the cancer
my doctor said that the chemo wouldn't affect my fertility but we would do egg retrival after the chemo cycles incase I needed radiation and more chemo later
I did 6 months of chemo which ended in July 2008 I was put into remission in September
during chemo my dh and I had to use protection which was s strange feeling after ttc all these years but couldn't risk transfering the chemo to dh or falling pregnant when my cycles remained unaffected. I was gieven the clear to go back to iui in September. We booked an appointment for march so I could have another pet scan in feb before ttc again
on Christmas day I was a week late did a home pregnancy test and finally got my bfp almost 7 years after going off the pill :D
my little DD was born 3 weeks ago a week after my anniversary of my last chemotherapy and almost 2 months before my year anniversary of remission
p.s I had internal when I was 9 months pregnant and iui procedures are more uncomfortable ;-)

What a lovely story! I'm so glad it all worked out in the end. You must be such a strong person to cope with all that, but it was well worth it! Truly, truly inspirational.
