DF and I have spent a bit of time around the Blue Mountains years ago and have fond memories.

We're considering moving out that way and wondering what the area is like these days?

Would you recommend it?

Well,.... I don;t know much about Woodford,..but we are moving into our new house in Wentworth Falls tomorrow! WF and Leura are lovely suburbs,..... my DD is starting at Blue Mountains Grammar School in Kindy next year,.which is a fab schoool. We have bought a lovely country house on nearly an acre of land,....(we are moving from a semi in inner Sydney),.. Fresh clean air,.nice people,..healthy living. :)

Woodford is still a nice little township...I don't live there but friends of mine do and they say it hasn't changed for decades :)

MG - welcome to Wenty Falls!!

Move there, it's lovely.

Also, it's closer to the awesomeness that is me:p

I'm biased, we are looking at moving that way, or down stanwell park way - both are lovely and close enough to commute for work. But it is the toss up between space for gardens, chooks and an orchard in the mountains, or the house near the beach .. so we're looking at both.

I lived in hazelbrooke , (the stop after woodford up the mountain on the trains), as the rent was dirt cheap and it was my first sharehouse when I moved outa home.. it was so amazing up there. the bush walks and the trees and the waterfalls, gorgeous in summer and cozy with a fire in winter. I went to wentworth a bit though as there is a bit of an alternative community there, I loved it, awesome community art everywhere and cafes.

But really, I'm with mountaingirl on this one, it's just so lovely and the air is so fresh and euclyptusy and there is birds and trees and a pretty lovely community in the blue mountains.

It would be a good option for me over stanwell park or going south as they have loads of markets and that sort of thing for the baking thing I do a i would essentially be starting over if I move.

Goodluck with the move Mountaingirl - So exciting!!:goodvibes:

Thatd be aweome for you lot!
The commute to penrith wouldn't be much at all, particularly if he drove part of the way parked and trained etc.

Hope it pans out, way better than brissy imo.
All that fresh air and nature:p

I've always worked in the city and my partner works near darling harbour, wish he could get a job in penrith then it would be so much easier to move up there./pout.

We were thinking of moving down to wombarra which is south of sydney illawarra area, for summer so I could have chooks and swim at the beach every day but since we were going to buy somewhere eventually I don't know if I could move all of the stuff twice... I just have so much stuff I think moving twice in 6 months would give me a nervous breakdown.

Also I have dogs and a cat and fishtanks so renting is a nightmare and we have a happily negligent landlord.

*looks at houses dreamily*

I'm so over newtown and hearing my neighbours fart.
So
over.
it.

Ahh the joys of commuting!!

Personally, I wouldn't bother doing a drive/train from Woodford to Penrith - it's only a 25 min drive, dual lanes all the way there and back and only 2 school zones (Faulconbridge & Blaxland) and they are the only 2 60 zones.

I'd love to work closer to home, this 2 hr drive to Bankstown and back (on a good traffic day) is wearing thin (only because I want to spend all day every day with my kids).....ahh well, at least I love my job with plenty of perks.

It's a great time of year atm, the blossoms are all coming out, the wattle is blooming and you can tell spring is in the air
