I am trying to wean my 10 month old onto a bottle for the day time feeds as I am going back to work in a month. I understand you gradually drop a feed over a week or so....but how much formula do you give in the bottle? The formula container says for bubs over 6 months feed 240ml 3-4 a day....but I am still also breastfeeding.

The most bub seems to take is about 100-120mls...is that ok?

Also somedays she will have the bottle and other days just throw it away and go for the boob!!

Has anyone else had experience with this as well....ie. combining day time feeds with bottle (formula) and morning /night feeds with breast milk?

Any suggestions most appreciated!:)

Hi Eskimo,

In regards to how much you feed your baby formula I would just make up the required amount for her age and then just see how much she drinks.

As for sometimes not wanting the bottle I don't have any suggestions sorry other than to maybe find a bottle that mimics the breast OR just give it time. I didn't have any probs as Poppy will drink out of anything!

You may find she doesnt like the formula so will not be happy about taking it.
Have you tried expressing ?
More than likely she will be happier taking EBM than the formula.
Dont stress too much cause at this age she may be getting enough through her meals through the day & will then make up for it by feeding longer etc when you get home.
She is probably just a booby girl hehehehe.
