Well this morning at 8.30am DD1 will be having her hearing test. I think she might have some issues wither her ears as she is very far behind in speech and the mchccn agrees.
Has anyone been through this before?
My DD1 will be 3 in Jan so what do I expect them to do with her?
It's going to be interesting to say the least.

What has been your outcome?
If there were some issues was there a follow up and if so what was it?

I know it's very late notice so wanted to thank anyone who gets to reply to this in time.

As a new mum myself, I understand how you feel. I am also an audiologist so, while you've already gone for the test I will just give you a little infomation just in case it is helpful or someone else who is going through the same thing finds it useful. At the age of three children are usually tested with a behavorial test called Play audiometry which makes the test fun (usually) for the child. They use games to link in with sounds eg. marble games or connect four etc. Tympanometry is another test which is usually performed as well. This test the child does not need to do anything but sit still (summing this up very basically it tests the middle ear function ie. ear drum movement, eustachian tube etc) It just puts in some sound and pressure into the ear to do this and only takes a couple of seconds. While a lot of kids pass the test there are some that don't, but don't get too worried, a lot of young kids that show up with a problem have conductive loss, which is usually something that can be addressed by your audiologist sending you to your doctor or ear specialist for treatment. The good thing is that you are seeing to it early, and hopefully all will go well. Best wishes to you and you little one.
