Hello:wave:

I was wondering if anyone might be able to give me some advice..
bub is 9 months old and I am ready to wean her  , even though I do not think she is ready... But her teeth are becoming too painful for my poor ol worn out grazed nipples and she comfort feeds too much during the night.... but I dont know the best way to go about weaning her...She wont drink formula... And I think 9 months might be too young to give her cows milk, how many milk feeds a day does she need at this age? Any suggestions? or advice would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Sharn

I'm pretty sure by 9 months, they can go onto cows milk, just make sure her solid meals are nutritious.

Hi there,
I just saw my MCHN today and discussed weaning with her. My son is 8 months and she said he needed a minimum of 3 breastfeeds a day but most babies have 4-5. She said if I was to wean him at 10 months he would need to have formula but if I weaned him at 11 months he could go straight on to cow's milk because he would be getting enough nutrients from his diet by then.
How many times have you tried to give her formula? What happens? I haven't tried to give it to my son yet but am working myself up to it (I'm still a bit undecided about what to do). I haven't got any suggestions sorry but just thought I'd let you know the information I was told today. Good luck.

Hi Cath,

Thanks for that helpful bit of info, When I have tried formula my bub just gags and refuses to drink it( dont blame her really it smells dreadful and I have tried a few different brands with her thought one might be better than the other, I guess she knows whats best for her!) Good luck to you with your weaning experience.
