Just wondering...
if you could hear any parenting speaker, who would it be?
Steve Biddulph?
James Green?
Michael Grosse?
Any others?
I'm trying to arrange a public session for parents and need a speaker. I'm negotiating but wanted some feedback from you about who would really be of interest.
Signed

You took the two words out of my mouth!! Robin Barker (author of Baby Love and The Mighty Toddler) - her books have been the best source of information for me over the past 3yrs or so.
While I agree - the public forum MM is talking about is aimed at all parents, not just parents of newborns and toddlers - so more general names?
Ohhh - I have one - Kaz Cooke!!:D

I agree with Kaz too. Mama, will you be aiming at parents of teens as well? Is so then someone who could look drug issues would be good too, like Fr Chris Riley or Bill Crews. Don't think you would qualify them as parenting gurus but I think they would be great.

I have heard Steve Biddulph and have to say, he is AWESOME!!
I was so impressed with his talk. I have seen quite a few parenting gurus talk and this one is fantastic. He is honest and gets to a level that everyone can relate to.
i have also seen Michael Grose talk on the subject of birth order and how it affects your whole life. It was a great night but I did feel a bit like I was in a classroom. I think because he is/was a high school teacher, it comes through in his presentation. But again, I got a lot from this man.
There is also a lady from Melbournse who is a child psychologist and she gives another wonderful presentation but I can't recall her name:eek: . maybe someone else can-she is a grandparent, so at the err...older end of the scale:rolleyes: . She has given talks through our local library.

Dr John Irvine is fantastic. He's funny and gives lots of practical suggestions.
Go Pinky!!
I've seen her in person. And met her (I used to work for the Bonnie Babes Foundation, and she's had a lot of involvement with them). She's based in Melbourne so you can go and see her in a number of places.
Dr John Gray is awesome too, I've seen him and met him. He's known primarily as the "Mars-Venus" guy, but if you look further into his work, he's got some fascinating material on children and parenting.
Deepak Chopra - again, I was lucky enough to meet him!!
Jim Fay - absolutely brilliant.
Joane Goulding - the author of Sleep Talk. A form of hypnosis - positive reinforcement you can use with your children during their sleep state.
There are more but I can't think of them right now...
