i am looking at buying my soon to be 4 year old a so called 'educational toy' but am confused as to which may be best - i.e easy to use, captivate her attention, fun and to help with learning. has anyone got or have preferrences between the 'my first leappads' , 'fischer price power touch' or the 'leapster', 'learn thru music' , 'vtech v smilie' or 'interact tv'. or any other suggestions or advice.

I love the Leapfrog leap-pad.

For tv-interactive i think i would go with V-tech.

My DS loves the leap-pad, its good that if you buy it to get alot of books and introduce them once a week so they do not get bored. But in a few months hes been reading it and repeating it with the musci and soudns and defiantly concentrating. IF you feel that ownt help i would recommended the v-tech, that seems good too :D

I'm with Mummmy2Alex&Mary.

We love our leappads. DD had her first leap pad at 8 months. She could identify letters and point them out if you asked her to show you anywhere, before she could even speak. They are also quite durable, as ours travelled the world with us a couple years back and it's still in perfect working order and now our 7 month DS is fascinated by it.

DD is now 3, still liked her first leap pad, but she outgrew it by the time she was 3, so we upgraded and bought her the big leap pad. I would go the leap pad.
I've seen the handheld game, but i think those are more limited with the kinds of cartridges and activities. Also the graphics are not as good as a book (imo).

 for the Leap pad.

And the little triangle at the top right corner "report bad post" is for anyone who sees a post that they think is inappropriate and would like to call a Moderator's attention to it. I think that's what you meant, isn't it??

My boys have an Interactv by Fisher Price and they love it! Really easy to use once they get the hang of it.

They also have a V-Tech V-Smile which is good but my nearly 4 year old prefers to play with the Playstation. He occasionally will ask to play the V-Smile but he finds it a bit difficult to use the controller, its quite big. Maybe he is just used to using the Playstation control? But it has got some good educational games such as numbers letters and colours.

My DS will get the Fisher Price Power Touch. At the moment he uses the baby powertouch one so it only seems right to use the older version when he outgrows it cause it is exactly the same style as the baby one (and the fact that it is sitting in my cupboard waiting till he is older!;)

I havn't used the older version but the baby one is great! DS thinks it is fantastic!
