View Full Version : when to change formula
DJ is now 6 months old and has been on Karicare sensicare infant formula and is slowly being introduced to solids. When do you start them on the next "level" up on formula - if at all?? The back of the tin gives measurements from newborns to 6months+ but no other indication of whether it is still suitable. Any thoughts??
From 6mths you can move them up to the next formula(6mths +) but I was told by a CHN if your baby is happy you don't have to change. Having said that I did change my son at 6mths. He is on the normal Karicare and the feeding guidlines are as follows
6 - 9 mths 250ml 3 - 4 times a day
9 -12mths 200ml 3 - 4 times a day
My daughter stayed on the same formula ( karicare AR) until 12 mths so if your bub is happy it doesn't hurt to keep him on the same formula.

hello,
My CHN said there was no need to change to the next formula. The next one up is more concentrated and can sometimes lead to constipation. I kept my daughter on the from birth Nestle Nan until she was 11 months and she had no problems.

I'll pip in and agree with the others, there's no need to move bub up to the next level. I had DD on the same formula until she was 17 months. The 6 month plus and toddler formulas have some added goodies, but if bub is getting a balanced diet through solids then they'll be fine.
