Hi there

I am new to this forum but hoping desperately that someone might be able to help me out or share their own experience.

My husband and I have two health children both conceived naturally the very first cycle we tried. Needless to say that we only had to look at each other and I was pregnant.

We have been trying for number 3 for awhile now and obviously I am not yet pregnant as I am posting in this area.

At the end of last year my husband was diagnosed with depression and subsequently put on the antidepressant lexapro. At the time, we were not told of the common side effects such as loss of libido, ejaculatory problems nor the problems that have been linked to sperm motility and DNA etc. We have since lived them and found them out through the course of the TTC.

We took the first step and returned to the doc who suggested that my husband wean himself from the tablets which he did, however the result was not a good one and we had to make the sensible and mutual decision for him to go back on them.

We continue to try but another month has gone by and it still hasn't happened.

I am wondering whether anyone else has had a similar experience and if not, what the possible options are.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks :)

My husband was also on Lexapro for about a year while TTC and we were told by our GP that it wouldn't affect our chances of falling pregnant. In January (while he was still on medication) we had numerous tests done to make sure there was nothing wrong, so DH's sperm was analysed and everything came back fine.
We chose to try TCM and acupuncture and did fall pregnant in April (he took Menevit during this time as well). But I had a miscarriage. So we are still TTC and getting acupuncture again (he gets it too to help his swimmers). Incidently, it took us only three months to fall pregnant with DD so our unexplained infertility has been really frustrating.

Now here's the interesting bit.... he went off the medication the same week we fell pregnant in April (which also coincided with a fabulous beachside holiday so we were all in a good head space), so it's really hard to know if him not taking Lexapro changed our chances of getting pregnant. I firmly believe TCM and acupuncture is what got us pregnant... as it changed my cycles dramatically... but you never know.

We were also under a lot of work stress last year which I think stopped us getting pregnant. There's lots of factors to consider, so I wouldn't pin point just the meds your hubby is taking. If you are really worried about it, you should see an FS and get some tests done.
Best of luck! :hugs:

Hi we have fallen preg. with DD whilst DH was on medication (yes he just had to look at me and I was pregnant), but now TTC #3 has taken longer than first two pregnancies but think that is due to other factors like diet, stress, being a couple of years older, and having two toddlers to distract from Bding!! We also have found libdo etc affected and long lead up has been our answer to that!! Good luck hope you get your BFP soon!:babydust2:
