OPK's as Preg Q! Do not wan't to get Toooooo excited..

Sooooooooooo... been in the TTC game for a while.. Kinda given up to be honest. Had NO + or even any line (except control) on OPK for last 2 cycles (testing daily)

Was due for AF anytime from Monday to Wed this week.. No sign of her. Have no HPT, and did a OPK out of curiosity.. and it showed 2 lines (not + test, cause the control line was still far darker) but it was a line! Why the heck would I get no lines at all right up to CD 31 of a 25-28d cycle? COULD I be preggers?!

(yes I KNOW, see a Dr, get a Preg test.. Can't afford it financially or emotionally ATM..)

Just interested in opinions. I KNOW your not Dr's! Buuut.. am I in with a chance?! or does AF give out simmilar hormones to O?

Can you just go and get a preg test? I wouldn't even waste my time with the ovulation tests... :no: not worth the disappointment if it's not a real line iykwim.

eta. sorry half asleep still and missed that part.. :doh: like I said.. I have no idea.. and wouldn't bother with them until you can afford a proper test.

I guess I was hoping that anyline (since I have not ususally got one) on OPK may be a good line?! (Dunno what I was thinking TBH, other than, no AF, and no HPT!!! so I'll pee on this!)

I would try and find a cheap preg test, there are loads of brands ranging anywhere from about $11-20. I was actually just googling on the net today about opk's showing positive (or just the test line) after ovulation and it's normal for your LH hormone to go up and down in the TWW. I'm 3 dpo and did an OPK today to make sure test line had faded but it came up quite dark, not positive though, so I went straight to google lol. Try and find some $$ to buy a HPT. There are some cheap ones out there. Good luck hun : )

An Ovulation kit detects a surge in Luteinizing Hormone, LH and hCG have the same composition with the exception of BETA which is what a HPT is looking for. The OPK test is only positive if the test line is the same color or darker than the qualifying line. If you get two lines and one is lighter than the other, then it is NOT positive. :no:

Hi I understand your frustration!! I used my only HPT last week at 10dpo and got a BFN. Now I am 16dpo but dont have the cash to go and get a HPT to find out what's going on!! However I did find some on ebay - 15 tests for 6.90 including postage so I'll wait until they arrive in the mail and then test if AF hasn't arrived, if it has I wont be stuck without a test next month!! Good luck!!!

I tried using opk's as preg tests but the two lines always stayed the same colour as each other , I personally would use a HPT :)

oh I forgot to add that I wasn't preg that month but cos the lines were the same colour I thought I was preg :)
