From what i have heard - just take it as it comes. As they are not quite 2 yet - don't rush things. But you could always just get a potty and see what the reaction is.
Then as you progress - i have heard a reward system works well. eg: have a chart on the fridge - each time it is used successfully they get a gold star - when they have 5 gold stars they get a reward. Then slowly increase the amount of stars.

you're right she probably is too young to be stressing over it, its just with having a newborn i feel so guilty with the amount of nappies we go through a day!
The chart sounds like a good idea down the track, thanks for the advice:D

hi
Ive just started TT my DD who is 22 months and we went cold turkey (no day nappies) and within one day she has learnt
*what it is, ie she says "Poos" when she has wet herself, so recognition. :smiliedance:
*And has gotten use to sitting on the potty, where as 2 days ago she wouldnt. :smiliedance:
i did this system with my DS at the same age and he picked it up in 2 weeks. In fact he was dry over night too!
Also i dont think it matters what season you TT in! LOL

I have been toilet training my 2 and a half year old for the past 2 weeks, when i first started toilet training him , i sat next to him and read him a book while he sat there, i think he was too busy concentrating on the book and just went without realizing it. He went to the toilet 4 times on his first day (Yay). Now just over 2 weeks later he is taking himself to the toilet and he hasnt wet his pants in 3 days, i am over the moon. I have been trying to toilet train my DS for the past 12 months off and on so i figure that he is really ready now cause he went without no arguments, i have heard boys are harder to train then girls.

for my son we placed a potty in the lounge room and would plonk him on it so he could watch his shows.....nothing, tried the reading to him while he was on it......nothing, even tried the making wee sounds while he was on it ....nothing. what finally worked for us is one day dad was having a shower and at that stage ds loved his showers with dad and was trying to get in with dad. dad said "no you are not getting in here with me till you use your potty" with that ds bolted to the potty and used it. after that you give heaps of praise and he used it every time after that (except for night time). (obviously try something your child is interested in)

my neice had to go cold turkey, too - & she was toilet trained within a day! yes, there were a few accidents in the next few weeks, but not many! but, not sure if this method would work for ALL children...
