My 11.5 week does a very annoying thing when going down for his first night sleep at around 7pm. He never does it any other time of the day/night. He falls asleep, either in his cot without an aid, in his cot with a dummy or in my arms after his last feed and is placed into his cot. He seems sound asleep. 5-10 minutes later he wakes up crying. Why does this happen only at this time of night? I try to feed him most times but he doesn't really feed much. Is he over-tired?? Do over-tired babies have trouble staying asleep? He doesn't have much trouble falling asleep in the first place, its just he wakes crying after such a short sleep. After waking about 3-5 times every 10 minutes I can usually finally get him to sleep by about 8pm.

TIA~

I'm sorry, I don't know but just wanted to reply. At first I thought maybe teething but given his age, unlikely I would say.

Does he just wake up the once and go back to sleep or does he do it several times?

Hi Lozzaaa

No he usually does it at least 3 times before falling asleep for good.

LOL mine sometimes does this in the wee hours of night which is fun:laughing: not.

A couple of things it could be......if they fall asleep with help (rocking, patting, feeding etc) and then stir and things have changed, they can often come out of the light sleep and wake.

Yes, overtired babies do have trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep.

Anyway, its so great that it only happens before 8pm:) I would love that:o
