Grrrrrr I have just washed a load of whites and all of them have come out with black marks all over them!! It looks like grease marks.

I washed my very EXPENSIVE towelling dressing gown and now it has these marks all over it.. not to mention my new white linen top:mad:

Any ideas on how to fix this problem.. Im wondering if the washing machine needs to be cleaned.. Ill have to get some dishwasher tablets like power balls or something to clean it...

i was told by my washing machine repair man that you should run a hot rinse cycle (with nothing in the machine but hot water) once a month. i also put a splash of white vinegar in the water too. just to help clean it every now and then.

to get the marks out of your clothes i would try rubbing them and handwashing with sunlight soap. otherwise you could use a little of a degreaser (hubby might have some in the garage) if the sunlight soap doesn't work. try a hot wash too.

Thanks for that... I will run a hot cycle tomorow and see if that helps.... Might add a splash of vinegar to it aswell.

I dont have any sunlight soap but I do have a big bottle of degreaser. DP is a pannel beater so you can imagine what our bathrrom sink gets like:rolleyes: Its the only thing that gets it clean!!

Hillmark (available at most supermarkets I think) make a washing machine cleaner. Vinegar and water is probably just as effective, but this other stuff is a powder and dissolves calcium/lime/grease and other build-up. I used a similar product they make in my kettle- it had gone so feral inside.

My washing machine is doing the same thing - sooo annoying having to rewash to get the marks out. Think I might have to try the cleaner.

Check out the Hillmark website for free samples. I got the washing machine cleaning one and they do a fab one for cleaning your kettle too!

My machine did this for a while. It would only happen occasssionally but gradually started to happen in every wash - it turned out the gearbox seal was perishing (and finally disintegrated altogether) and the gearbox needed to be replaced. It cost about $300 but I love my machine and paid a heck of a lot more for it so I got it fixed and it has been going like crazy ever since!!
