My diet is really taking a hit at the moment and I am snacking on all the bad things....chocolate, chips etc. I know it's affecting my milk but can't seem to stop going to the pantry
Could do with losing those pesky excess kilos along with bringing my milk back up to scratch so what do you girls snack on during the day...also what do you do for snacky lunches that are quick and easy.
Thanks

the fruit sounds good.....i totally agree with shopping after eating...it's amazing the difference!
I have it in the house for DS. I know he could go without but he's such a good eater of all the healthy stuff I like to be able to offer him treats.
Oh God, stop now!!! I did not put on a pound whilst pregnant, but after bfing the last year and stuffing my face, I have put on like 15 kilos or something..because all I do is sit around and feed DD and feed myself.
I stopped this week...I have to break the cycle. My cousin who was bfing twins swears by banana milkshakes for lunch, with some sustagen (hospital strength) in it. I was doing this in the early months, but yeah, it all got way out of control ...schlepping around in my pjs with biscuits in the pockets :o

:laughing:MY twins are 3 1/2 months ild,a nd I was down to my pre-perg weight 2months ago......but I also snack on junk and have gained 3kg! In my defense, i spent most of the pregnancy with hyperemesis and either throwing up or feeling like I was going to after every meal, so I am REALLY enjoying eating again!
Time for me to stop now too though....I have started having porridge for breaky as it fills me up for longer and reduces the need to snack (also good for milk supply) and snacking on grapes, peanuts, cashews, macadamias (hard not to go overboard on them). Also cruskits with low fat cream cheese (the cold stuff, not the kraft stuff) or avocado. Tuna salad s/w or cold home made mini-quieches for lunch. You can use wholemeal bread in place of the pastry cases too. Make a big batch and freeze them. I am Hoping these new snacks will stop the weight gain!!

Almonds are good, they're good for me because they're not yummy enough to eat for the sake of eating - like dried fruit, loolies, chocolate, icecream etc is
I'm really annoyed the that day I came home from hospital I was 3 kilos over my pregnancy weight... and then gained 6 or so kilos :(
Quick lunches, I love toasted cheese, ham and tomato sandwiches.
I usuallly try to make enough for leftovers for myself to lunch the following day.
I find generally if I dont eat a proper meal at lunch time I snack ALLLLLLLL afternoon.
For a while I was cutting up heaps of fruit that was in season putting it in containers in the fridge and grabbing it on the way through the kitchen, just a bite here and there - that was great... why did I stop?
my ds is 13 weeks and i find i have been eating so much junk, especially in the middle of the night i get sooo hungry.
so now i made up a big mix of dried fruit and nuts and yogurt covered arpicots, i also make banana muffins with LSA and oats and snack on them. I am doubly hungry because i am going to the gym as well so i feel i need to eat eat eat to keep up my supply (good excuse anyway)
while i am typing this i just demolished a bowl of icecream and a fruit scone from bakers delight!!!!!

I think its a good idea to cut up fruit in the morning and keep it in the fridge to snack on, also carrots and celery, beans etc with hommus, again cut it all up in the morning so you don't get slack. Cherry tomatoes-YUM! Nuts, like almonds, walnuts, macadamias etc, or a fruit and nut mix, but go easy on this if you are watching your weight as dried fruit is high in sugar and nuts high in fat (both are very good for you tho). Low fat yogurt that you can just grab out of the fridge. Cheese and tomatoes on vita wheat, smoothies...(no icecream!)
Porridge or muesli for breakfast, salad, salad sandwhich, tuna, or left overs for lunch and whatever healthy meal you cook for the family for dinner :)
Get rid of the junk food, its not good for you OR your son and its expensive and the packaging is bad for the environment.
