Ok Im not really good at writing stories so it will be plain and simple short and sweet! haha!
Thursday 6.30am I woke up with contractions 30 mins apart, they were pretty mild so i laid in bed for a while longer. About an hour later i got up and did the normal thing breaky bath etc: at 8.30 contractions were getting to about 10 mins apart. They were still mild but were getting stronger. I had an aching back right from the start getting worse with each contraction. All day Mum and my partner were rubbing my back and keeping me company trying to keep my mind off the pain.
Anyway moving right along....
In the afternoon contractions were 3 mins apart. But they were coming and going quickly. My dad had rang the hospital in the morning they told me to have a bath or get a hot water bottle and take some panadol. Bath did help while i was in there but soon as i got out the pain was back! ok so by Tea time they were VERY bad and i was at the point were i couldnt take anymore so back in the bath while everyone ate. After the bath i went back to my bedroom and suffered in there by myself until DP came in and comforted me at 8.30 i thought i was going to die! haha So i got mum to call the hospital and she told them i was coming in!
The drive to the hospital was the quickest yet the longest ever! Contractions still around 2 - 3 mins apart. Got to the hospital and went straight to the delivery suite were they asked me a few questions then did an internal to see how far i was dialated. At this point i was about 4 cms. We talked about pain relief and i deceided to have the pethadine needle and possibly gas. So at 10 pm I had the needle. It made me feel better at the time and i could get a little rest between contractions i think i slept for about half an hour. Mum and DP were buggered so they tried to rest aswell! The midwife kept coming in and checking on me every 15 to 20 mins. About 2am i felt the need to push. They did another internal i was about 9cm this time the midwife wanted me to wait for about half hour to and hour b4 i started to push! By this time the pethadine was starting to wear off so i was on the gas! about 3am i started to push I was in so much pain! My bach was REALLY bad and i wanted more pain relief but they woudnt give me anything but gas! So after 2hrs of pushing and passing out twice his head started to come. It took about 6 really good pushes for his head to come out. because i was so tired it took so much longer! I had worn myself out. Anyway I had pushed his head out and was waiting for that first baby cry.... but there was nothing... I looked at my mum and at DP and asked what was going on?? He was born at 6.17am. Dp ran into the toilet. Mum told me everything was ok but she had tears in her eyes. I stated to panic I push the rest of him out. His head had came out sideways and had the cord wrapped around his neck twice. They took him straight to the other table and were rubbing him and putting air into him. It was 10 mins b4 he started to breathe on his own. I was still lying on the bed bit groggy but th gas wanting to know what was going on with my baby! They had taken him to the special care unit to keep an eye on him. I had to have a few stitches. After i had a shower and some breaky i went to see him in the special care unit for a little while and then went to bed for a while. he was in special care for 24hrs then they let him in the ward with me! He is doing really well now that we are home!
